ok seriously he was a nutcase in dire need of ritalin...!!! but he did invest in saving animals and preserving areas for the animals to live...so whatever he did a lot of good and I am so sad he is gone ....

I totally agree. I used to watch his shows with my mum on the Discovery Channel.

At least he did everything he could in his life for animals and did what he loved doing.

He was supposed to come to Los Angeles (Harbor City) and find that croc that someone ditched in the lake. No one so far was able to find the croc, and he of course would have.

Lordy, the irony. He seems so dedicated to what he did. There is hype in all televion but I really believe he meant what he said. I was conerned that time he was feeding a croc and had his 1yr old boy in his other arm.

In another forum I sometimes visit, people were making jokes and saying really awful things about Mr. Irwin. It made me so mad. The man has died, and leaves behind a family! He had a very dangerous job, but that was his passion in life. He seemed to love what he did...but unfortunately, he had freak accident.

Okay, end of rant.

It was a sad day in our house yesterday, well for my girls who love watching the Croc. Hunter movie (anyways), to hear how Steve Irwin passed away doing something he loved.

Since we came back from the coast from a family vacation this summer my girls have really enjoyed watching the marine shows and were kind of sad to hear how Irwin died. We watched the moring show today with the sting rays and learned so much more about the great creatures and their natural instincts.

I wonder if it would have made any difference if Steve left the barb in and let the doctors remove it. Guess we will never know.

I have wondered that myself. I've heard of stories where someone's heart gets punctured, and they lived because they left in the foreign object and the docs removed it in surgery.

No. It came out...according to the news that I heard this morning. The barbs are removeable/cuttable and with a force they are lost during a "swipe" sometimes.
