my engagement ring is a yellow gold, 3 oval aquamarines (to symbolize his and my birth month, and the month we married) and there are 2 circular diamonds on each side. My wedding ring is a band with 8 diamonds in it, for no other reason than the diamonds are the same width as my engagement ring stones.

When we decided to marry, we picked out our rings together, but each chose the one we would wear. My hubby kept asking me my opinion on ones he was lookin at and I kept saying 'your the one who has the wear it, you decide.'

I personally think a wed/engagement ring is too personal to leave to chance. it's something your going to wear until you die (fingers crossed) and it should be something that you pick out yourself to make yourself the happiest with. My hubby has AWEFUL taste and i would never have left my ring to his discretion!!!! It's the symbol of your commitment to eachother, and it sure it nice to have flashin' on your finger to say OFF LIMITS BOYS, this gal is TAKEN.

she posted the topic and so i thought she was showing her ring. now higgies shows us a pic of the gorgous ring he bought. now I'm totally confused Dotsamatha and Higgies are getting hitched? Where is the board announcement of this? hwere are our invites to the wedding and who is throwing the bridal shower and the bachlor parties around here?

no problem Higiges I was just confused by you having her ring was all. but since it is your Jane's ring (see i had to go read the hacienda for clarification) we get 2 praties now woo hoo and when dotsamantha gets her's there will be another ring pic.

When my hubby was still in Canada, we planned to get engaged the next time I visited. We went to look at rings together, and while some were nice, I knew the one I wanted when I saw it. It's yellow gold with a solitaire diamond..the band is wide enough that someone thought it was a wedding ring LOL! It has grooves on each side leading to the diamond...almost like a ribbon.

Months later, we also went wedding ring shopping together. I chose the matching wedding band, which fits behind the engagement ring with 3 smaller diamonds (like a crown). His is a gold band with very small diamonds running across it in a curve.

When Luis and I got engaged, I told him what I liked (ie white gold) and let him go on his own to choose a few rings, so that he felt that he had the "normal" part in it, of picking the ring out. Then he took me a few days/a week later and let me choose from the ones he'd already picked out. Mine has a large diamond in the middle, and 3 smaller ones either side of it. It's gorgeous, and I love it

You guys are so funny! Higgies is cute, but no, we aren't getting hitched, lol. I will definitely post a pic after the whole thing. I was actually looking at aquamarine rings. I thought about a gemstone instead of a diamond.

My husband wanted to get me the exact style I wanted, so I told him. I had wanted a pear-shaped solitaire with side diamonds on the band. He determined the size of diamond, etc.. that was within his budget which was fine with me but he kept saying it was all he could afford and that one day he'd upgrade it when he made more money.
On our 5 year anniversary, he surprised me with another wedding ring and upgraded the diamond a little bit to a round solitaire and the setting to platinum (the first was yellow gold).

Aquamarines are gorgeous. My jeweler friend designed an aquamarine engagement ring for a friend of hers. It was a large oval shaped aquamarine, with diamonds all the way around. It was stunning. There were also pave diamonds on the band of the ring.
