  • Grizzly's Addiction to ADBB Chats

O.K. spouse says I'm addicted to this site. Says you don't know who is on the other end that you are talking to. Whether a ADBB junkie, addict or WHATEVER, I feel it works.

I use to laugh at people who told me they could stay on computer for hours, surfing and talking. ((((((HELLO))))))), what am I doing right now. Does anyone else have the same addiction problem of wanting to check you journal, sneeking and reading the other journals?????? I feel it helps me to stay focused on my diet. I have a certain accountability to myself and others trying to diet, to make sure I succeed.

Well, got to make a decision on whether staying on here or moving on to something else. I do see it from her point of view due to at church we know of people who got on the wrong places to talk and ended up in trouble.

How does your spouse deal with you talking to strangers on this site????????????????

Look out Dr. Phil, here I come!

    dr. grizzly,
myjack thinks i spend WAY too much time on this board. he has not complained but i do suppose he wishes a big fat paycheck came with it. lol

he knows that for the most part, people are helped here and so he hasn't demanded that the time be cut.

as far as "talking to strangers", he knows that i know the risks. i've met a couple of the members here but that was only after i had "known" them for a long time.

      Hi Grizzly

My husband calls it my "secret computer life"!!! He laughs about it, but he is always asking me who I'm chatting to!! lol!!

I'm the same as you, I find reading and posting on here keeps me really positive!

Maybe we should have a thread for all our partners to post on!! hehe!!

Hi...........my name is Bren (group yells back..........HI BREN!)

and I am an ADBB ADDICT!

You do know that it is VERY important to surround yourself with people that have the same goals as yourself. It greatly increases your odds of success. I for one would not be where I am right now (went from could hardly walk up the stairs) to a fitness instructor. I credit this place for 99% of my success.

Yes, I feel the same way. Wife is not telling me to quit but, be carefull. Think when people want to know more personal info, that flags will go up. This is the first site that I have been 100% educated, supported, motivated, humored and saddened by some of the posts that I have read. I'm amazed at how long some have been a member and keep posting even after being on maintenance, due to it is a way of life.

          Give ol' griz your input!!!!!

Re: Grizzly's Addiction to ADBB Chats

My boyfriend teases me all the time...so much that I make the jokes now, just to beat him to the punch! He is totally confused about why I always want to be on here...he can't figure out what we talk about, why it's so fun, etc. I am a total addict! He is even more confused because everyday when he comes home, there are more random pics saved on the desktop (thanks to cjb for that influence) that I d/l to post in my journal, or someone else's journal. He got sick of my bad habit of saving stuff on the desktop, and made a folder that is called "Julie's Blog ****" that I DO actually put everything into...LOL.

He actually said the other day, "Man, it's a good thing you guys don't have a chat room on there, or else I'd NEVER see you..."

Hrmm maybe that's why chat doesn't work--the spouses have united!

Every one should always be careful about what they post on the internet. But, with that said, rest assured the admin adn mods here watch very carefully over everyone!! They do much to keep this place as safe as possible.

Re: Grizzly's Addiction to ADBB Chats

I try to involve my DH as much as he wants to be. I make sure to show him pictures and posts and such. Occasionally he'll see someone's picture and say "Who's that?" and I show them their progress. I always try to include him as much as possible.

I also like to post things about how supportive he is...and when people comment about it, I make sure to show him that too. It seems to help.

He does get annoyed at how much I'm on though and I try to be respectful of that in the early evening hours. Once he goes to bed though....it's fair game.

Re: Grizzly's Addiction to ADBB Chats

Well, my sweetheart is on the computer much more than I would like (hunting and hockey forums and the occasional anonymous chat), but I have come to be more comfortable with it and when I get a place like this that i want to hang out on the computer, then it is his turn to be apprehensive! It is good for him. I have spent a lot of time on my computer for years. It used to be all business, now it is pleasure and school work, but I feel that anyone getting into trouble on the internet, was going to get in trouble in a similar way eventually with something else offline anyway. The internet is not the problem. Honesty with one's own self is. With all that said, it does make me a bit irritated when it seems 100 women jump on replying to anything a man says on the internet, but bottom line...can they trust us/you/him/her to start with? That should be known upfront. As far as time spent and no fear involved...that is another issue.

NO, I'm not addicted. I'm on the computer at 5:30 in the morning before going hunting. Most hunters are more Macho than this.

Maybe therapy is in the future!!

I've even started at work, looking at threads to see what I'm missing. If you're are in this site and need to be motivated to stay on Atkins, you have come to the right place. I've accomplished more in 1 month as far as changing my eating habits than I have in 20 years.
