Re: A man in a kilt

We used to go to Edinburgh in Scotland every December for a dinner dance, and all our partners used to hire kilts for the occasion! They looked soo good in them!! hehe

But not all were "true" scottish men on the night!!! Most kept their underwear on!! lol

Re: A man in a kilt

Aside from Sean Connery in a kilt, I'd just as soon not see them in downtown USA.

Re: A man in a kilt

I can only think how cold it would be for a true Scot to keep tradition of wearing the kilt during the cold/snow/ice/rain months. Not to forget to mention the idea of innocent people being around to witness a "full moon" of viewing a wind blown kilt...lol...oh my, the poor guy!

Are there not kilts made with straps/weights that keep the front/back panels down anymore? I recall my DH's great great grandfather being pictured in a kilt with straps that were attached from the inside of his kilt down to his shoes. Either that was decorative or actually useable, I have no clue.

Thanks for sharing....I think. lol. Gave me something to smile about instead of the toils of life to think about today.

Don't the men also carry the equivalent of a front-riding fanny pack (aka purse), which would help hold things down?

Re: A man in a kilt

                From the opening Video

                "What's under the kilt?"
                "Freedom!"

                Another

                "What's worn under your kilt?"
"Nothing. It's all in perfect working order."
Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
                he said, 'Don't count calories.'

It's called a sporran. Maybe your second point explains why Stotsmen have a reputation for holding on to their cash - its the weight you see.

"Fanny" is a word you must NEVER use in polite company in the British Isles.
