  • What's your favorite wine?

Now that I'm on rung 5, I've been thinking a lot about wine lately--I'm going to have a glass with dinner tonight and just wondering if I should try an old favorite, or be bold and daring and try something new.

What are your favorite wines? Are you a red or a white fan? What's your favorite vineyard? Do you prefer a certain region?

I'm a sucker for Australian wines--excellent price, great taste. My favorites are ANYTHING from Penfold's/The Little Penguin, Rosemount, Yellowtail. I know they're not showy or expensive, but for just a bottle with dinner, these are my favorite.

I also really liked the Syrah from Long Neck...it's from South Africa. Very potent stuff.

Although I prefer red wine, my favorite Chardonnay is Francis Ford Coppola--yes, who would have thought!?

I also love ANYTHING from FLOURISH--all organically grown and from all over the world. I think the best are the Rioja, Temperanillo, and Malbec.

So I'm trying to find some new wines...what are your favorites?

I am a once a week OK OK..... maybe twice a week have a glass a wine......OK OK maybe two glasses of wine kind of person.

We have several local vineyards and I am partial to them. Lucas Vineyards, very small and very affordable. I am partial to (are you ready for this name!) Tugboat Red. It is a mildly dry red. I also love to mull it this time of year.

              Re: What's your favorite wine?

Wolfblass Yellow Label Cabernet Sauvignon is my most favourite wine in the world.

              Quickly followed by YellowTail Shiraz.

And I used to be a strictly white wine drinker. Totally totally changed now...

I like a fe wlocal long Island brands - Pindar, Duck Walk. As far as wide favorite, I'd have to go with Santa Rita Cabernet (Chile).

                  Re: What's your favorite wine?

MMMM wellllll I am partial to champagne, Dom Perignon

but that isn't what you asked...I love rich reds, and I am an old fogy as I still love a good Burgundy, especially a French one. As it is not popular these days, you can get it really cheap. I love Australian Shiraz. I have had Yellowtail and it is good. With Thanksgiving dionner (in the past) I had to have Turning Leaf Chardonnay (white) so oaky, so perfect with my cornbread dressing. A Merlot or Pino Grigiot are very nice. These are great with wild game meats, which are my passion. If I am going to eat Mediterranean foods a any kind, ezpecially if tomatoes and seafood are in the dish, I am going for Retsina. It is a Greek specialty and is an acquired taste for some people. It is a nice yellow color from the pine resin in the barrels. And lastly, you may have tried these before...You remember Uncle John's Cider mill in St. Johns??

They actually produce about 5 grape varieties of wine and a couple of apple and I think a few berry. I was actually shocked to discover how fantastic they are. It was some of the best white wines I have ever encountered and this includes hundreds of miles of vineyard wine tasting in California while I lived there. They have really lucked out with a good start. Happy wining!

I'm a pink girl!! I just adore White Zinfandel!! We can't get many brands in the UK, but I prefer Suttor Home or Ernest & Julio Gallo

Plus its only 9% - so you can drink a whole bottle and still feel ok-ish!! lol

They will ship it, I think and it is under $10 a bottle. You should call them. They have a website too.

We buy a lot of wines from Chile or South Africa. We also have a cheap source for German wines. We actually stay with a wine farmer(bed and breakfast) several times a year for vacation. Mummmm, wine! I miss it.
