I have been summoned 2 times. The first time was county. I went to the courthouse along with everybody else. Was questioned and selected. It was a divorce trial and I basically felt like I was a voyeur looking into the intermost working of the relationship. It was awful in regards to the information I was made privy to, but also very interesting. Of course, the wife got most of what she wanted and the husband got very little because he was screwing around. Next time was federal court. With this I was instructed that on a certain date I had to call in at 5pm to see if I had to appear the next date. I had to do this every day after 5pm for a 2 week period to see if I had to appear the next day. This was very frustrating in that you never new until 5pm that day whether you had to go to the federal courthouse to serve. During that 2 week period I was never advised to appear. This is in Atlanta.

I have been summoned once and was chosen as a juror for a civil case. The man in our case was suing a big insurance company for lots of money (which was justly awarded to him). It was a very fun experience with the exception of all the waiting.

It is funny that you brought this up. My husband is being summoned in March and the guy on the radio was talking about ways to avoid being a juror. They were quite funny.

I've been summoned once when I was still considered a residence of PA in my hometown. I was away to college at that point in Cleveland and received an exemption.

I was summoned twice because I still have my AZ drivers liscense. I couldn't serve because, well it would be a long drive over from Norway.

I really wanted to though, told them if they paid for my ticket over and a hotel room - I'd be glad to do it.
