Re: What frightens you most about getting old?

I would say..Knowing we have to die one day.. I don't want to miss out on a thing with my family... Maybe by then I will be okay with leaving this earth..But I don't want to go..

Dying is the easy bit. It's what comes immediately before that is difficult.
Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
        he said, 'Don't count calories.'

Death is not an event in life; we do not experience death.

Similarly, I would not know if I had lost my mind, so that does not worry me.

On the other hand to have a clear and active mind, but paralysed, blind, deaf, incontinent and totally aware of the situation . . .

Re: What frightens you most about getting old?

What frightens me most is lonliness and dependancy. I have two wonderful daughters who I am sure will have me in their lives but being the kind of person I am I would want them to have their own lives and not be saddled down with "old mom" all the time.

Re: What frightens you most about getting old?

Much scarier than the thought of me dying is the thought of my husband dying, and being alone. I especially hate the thought of getting old alone. I have a great aunt in her late 90's, and she's still doing great mentally, doing OK physically. She's sad all the time because her husband died, her children have died, and all her friends have died. I'd hate to be the last one left.
