  • Clinching 2009: Exercise Challenge (misplaced)

Due to the nature of (um) butt-clenching, this challenge begins and ends with firming and toning your nether region. I will attempt to "moderate" it...

The challenge and results ae legit and simple:
    1. First, you don't sit here at your computer without doing clenches.

    2. Second, you get to multi-task if you do clenches at the same time as a bonafide challenge you undertake in the challenges forum.

    3. Third, report here - at least weekly - the pains and gains of your efforts. No cheek pictures, please - I don't want this thread censored...
(Remember the TOS at all times)

Thanks to Buttock exercise for a firm butt
for these instructions (more will be added later for variety):

In a smooth controlled manner, gradually tense your butt cheeks, aiming to raise yourself an inch or two whilst staying seated in the chair.

Hold this position for a few seconds 3 - 10, then relax your muscles and repeat. The movement is only small, basically shrinking the size of your buttocks at the side.

Concentrate on the movement coming from your glutes, avoid leaning forward or pushing down on your feet in order to raise yourself.

Aim to perform 10 - 15 repetitions with a few seconds rest between each exercise.

Try and increase the length of time you hold the position for, rather than increasing the reps you perform, aiming to hold for 15 seconds plus.

OK- I've done 15 in my chair 5 seconds each while posting this....Any one else? Say where you will do it (bus stop, desk, while doing squats, abs, walking, etc)

    No one is looking.... hmm...
According to CareFair.com - 7 Ways to a Firmer Butt

It’s that time of year again. Time to buy that sexy bikini you’ve had your eye on and be envied by women everywhere. The only question is, are you ready to show off in that bikini? Sure you may have worked hard on those great set of abs, but what about that butt? It`s always a good time to get that bottom half bikini ready.

I want a deriere like this!!

      Squeeze those glutes!

Are you just sitting there? Do you get jealous when you see someone with a firm, tight rear, regardless of the rest of the person's figure? (well maybe not regardless) ... Face it: if your backside resembles the cushion you are sitting on, it needs extra work!

Oh Amen to that one....I had to do that today!!!! When I loose weight I normally loose in my face, boobs & butt first....so I have a thin face, no boobs and a flat butt....hopefully clinching will give me somewhat of a derierre left when I'm at goal!!!

                I probably do anywhere from 50 to 100 clinches a day....I sit alot...LOL!!!

                they need a clinching smilie!!!

Re: Clinching 2009: Exercise Challenge (misplaced)

Flatbutt is a problem for me, too - especially since the majority of time at work and on the computer at home is spent sitting in a flat chair.

I've recently added (when I can remember and am not needing hands for something else) combination chair-arm-pushup-glute-clenches.

4-5 at a time, quickly when no one is looking. I've also got batwings under my upper arms to deal with. ><

I wonder if there's a harmless "chair of nails" cushion on the market? LOL
That could keep us off our butts!

I know all about batwings because I've always had them. And they are so much worse now that I've lost weight. I'm just hoping that I can stand the heat of summer enough to be able to wear shirts with sleeves while I'm outside in the heat waiting on customers. I wear a short-sleeved open shirt over a tanktop as often as I can but during midday I have to take it off. At my age, they are hard to get rid of, but I'm trying!

                      I'm still clenching everyday!

I'm lucky -- no batwings....but I look like I'm wearing football padding....wide shoulders and very muscular arms & calves....now if it's possible I have batwing things....or elephant thighs...they are horrid looking!!!

I'm secretly clinching as we speak...lol

I'm still here and still clenching although at times I don't think they're helping much with the bladder control. The more weight I lose, the worse it gets.

I'm clinching, too. The only control I've heard of to help with b.c. is Kegel exercises - not the same set of muscles at all. Clinching does help keep the discomfort of sitting on a hard surface down, especially when more weight has been lost' I'm finding they use of glutes aids protection to the tailbone.
