here's what I do -- put a medium child's ball (the kind they play with outdoors) between your knees and squeeze and you are clinching....works rear and kegel muscles at the same time!!! I like multi-tasking...LOLS

That's a great idea, Imagood1. Might look kinda funny if seen doin' it at the office, LOL (especially if I dropped the ball!!!) ROFL

I'm really seat clenching tonight - been waiting for ages to finally make it off being on dial-up service at home - tomorrow's the bigg FIOS day!!!

      HOO -YA!!!!!!!

So tomorrow I can really get on the ball (in more ways than one, thanks to your idea - I'll give it a try!)

Re: Clinching 2009: Exercise Challenge (misplaced)

I squeeze a ball between my knees too but it's a small stability ball (bigger than a childs ball) and I'm not sure it's using my butt muscles at all. I'm only feeling it in my inside thighs but it may be helping the butt too.

I had a bit of a bladder problem for week or so but it seems better now. It comes and goes but I'm never sure what causes it. I used to drink 96ozs. of water a day but had to cut back to 64 because of the problem. So for now all is well. How are you two doing?

Re: Clinching 2009: Exercise Challenge (misplaced)

Morning Nyna -- what I do is on the count of 1 I squeeze the ball...on the count of 2 I do clinches....that way you're working both sets of muscles. I'm doing well, had a set back a couple days ago but I'm back on track doing extra exercises to make up for it.

Hope all is well with both of you

Imagood1, you are really on the ball! As much exercises as you are doing, you must be really good at this multi-tasking to get it all done.

Must be a real clincher, LOL!

In tight leather pants, clinch while you walk, stand up, or sit down.

Re: Clinching 2009: Exercise Challenge (misplaced)

Hey Boonie -- my exercises don't take that long....I start within a half hour of getting up (I have to have my coffee first, but most days my husband's lunches are in the freezer in the basement, so I start my stair stepping then, and except for the walking, most days I have them all done within an hour. Since the weather is improving the past couple days we go walking before 11:00 a.m. Yesterday we had to walk faster than normal to get out and back before the rain started (my 80 year old mother and 1 year old dog walking with me). We were barely home 10 minutes before it started pouring, so it's a good thing we stepped it up!!

I'm clinching while I type...lol (I clinch alot because I have been known to sit too much!!)

It helps that I don't work anymore and can enjoy exercising at my own

Do you suppose gus would be more nervous aound those of us clinching, or around the ones doing pelvic floor workouts...? LOL. Both workouts simultaneously is likely to be a useful endeavor. Now that is too graphic to post a picture.

Has anyone ever tried using those Kegel exercise things they sell in junk books? I'm having a lot of problems with my bladder, I even had to quit the water challenge because of it, and I'm wondering if I should bother buying one or not. I do squeeze a ball between my knees but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

I'm with y'all! I'm sittin' in my computer chair doing mine now. Whew, it hurts already! LOL

I haven't done any exercising in a long time. I have plantar fasciitis in both of my feet. I have rotator cuff problems in my right shoulder and neck problems which I'm seeing a doc for now. I reckon being a barber for 30 yrs is finally taking it's toll on me. Anyway, I need exercises I can do without using my feet/neck/shoulder. Sad, huh? I miss walking, I always LOVED to walk and lost weight quickly when I did walk. Hopefully, getting some of this weight off will help my foots!

For Kegals, I just squeeze like I'm trying not to pee. I don't think I need anything for that!

Keep your hopes up, 2fat2 - my plantar faciitis went away about 40lbs ago, came back during a weight relapse, and went away again, not to return since the regain was lost.

Speaking of a good Kegel exercise, guaranteed to work the right muscles - take a (((almost too long)) bus ride, BYO extra water, drink and then hold it!

Now it's time for a screen cleaning break - here's the ABSOLUTELY BEST helper (and cutest) for the part you can't reach (inside your monitor)!!
