my husband and I flew to Reno, rented a can and drove back across the state to Carlin, NV where his sister lived and were married in her backyard. My sis-in-law and brother-in-law invited some of their closest friends - we had a 3 tier beautiful cake and had the time of our lives (even if we only knew 2 people there).....the minister finished refereeing a baseball game at the church, changed clothes and came over...when he got there we started the ceremony.

I made my dress & stepdaughter's dress, the bouquets for sis-in-law, stepdaughter and myself (and dh's daughter) we had Albertson's grocery store make our cake (it was delicious) and I've never regretted a minute of it....all together our wedding cost maybe $400.00 and that's because $250.00 was the cake. We stayed in a suite at the local hotel for 3 nights and flew back home. I don't regret 1 moment of my wedding day -- it was beautiful and everything I could have wanted.

I couldn't justify spending tons of money for 1 day -- we spent what we were comfortable with.

We kind of eloped.. it was a planned eloped. We decided to get married in Vegas at the little chapel of the west.. It was like $300 bucks or something....... and then we rented him a tux that day and I found a white dress at the MALL, lmao.
Cheap but we're frugal kind of people!!!!!!! Then all the money we saved went towards our new house =D

Sorry I'm so late with the post..
My hubby and I eloped in Vegas. It was my second wedding and his first but the memories of my first wedding from he** kept causing me to have panic attacks. Not only that, I wanted a house more than the debt of a big wedding so the hubby agreed to the Vegas wedding. The whole thing, including rings, travel, lodging, pictures and attire was under $4,000. Tax refund money took care of most of he expenses. We had a beautiful day with out a huge bill. We're planning to have a big renewal at 10 years, we're celebrating 4 years this year. If your gut is telling you not to go into debt over this wedding, you should probably listen. Debt can cause problems in marriage so I'm thinking it's probably a good idea to consider a nice elopement. Talk to your betrothed and you two should come up with a happy compromise.
