[QUOTE=iyamamaschke]When you Started Atkins did you do it only one time or did ya have to try a few times before you got it right?????
Nope, I was a single shot all the way and couldn't for the life of me understand STAC folk. I was a well educated on how to do Atkins beginner cause I spent the month of May researching plans before I started June 1 2002 and always checked stuff out before it went in my mouth. I was one of those fok that got what I called an "Atkins high" and was on top of the world every morning when I got up. I know now very few low carb folk get the "Atkins high". I was cheatfree never a food or extra carb not acceptable for my phase until my famous April 1, 2004 jumped off the wagon and got runned over lost my Atkins loving high feeling.
[QUOTE=Tired of Chub]What are your stats? (you know, height, weight, age, former weight etc). as of this morning 170 pounds, 69 inches tall, 48, 313 was the start high weight, don't know what etc you want
What was a food from your carb days that you have tried in Maintenence and thought "blech why did I like that?" bananas. I have tried every very few high carb old days foods cause I'm a carboholic and as Dr Atkins says in the premaintnenace chapters of DANDR if you know a food is a trouble food don't even go there.
How many carbs do you eat daily in maintenence? working out doing my 60 min HIIT and my BFL style lifting for 90 min and cardio afterwards 3 days a week each I can have 110-120 net carbs. not lifting and only treadmilling 3 days a week HIIT I can only eat 45.
LOL OOPS Jimmie Jo I was trying to edit it cause I forgot to take out that quote thing at the end and it looked like you ask and answered the first question for me must have hit quote and not edit
1. How long did it take you to reach your goal with this WOE? this is a trick question cause I actually shot by healthy goal weight not knowing I had added more lean body mass and the BMI and height weight charts didn't recognise body composistion. I was at a healthy 19% body fat way back in Dec of 2003 which would have made it 19 months but I didn't realize it until I got to 14.9% body fat in May 04 and was still 8 pounds above the height weight chart top of the healthy range and still over weight on the BMI chart.
Can you tell me more about this? How do we determine our true healthy weight if it's not by going by height/weight charts? What did you use to determine your body fat percentage? This is intriguing to me, as I've always believed the height/weight charts are ridiculously off for me, as I have a LOT of muscle and am building even more.
Female / Currently on Extended Induction (again), begun 6/2/08.
I did Extended Induction from 1/3 to 5/9 (2006) and lost 55 pounds, so I know I can do it again!
[QUOTE=changing]Not really a question--Why don't you post a before/after pic for us! (haha, sorry, but I find you so mysterious and inspirational. I can't help but wonder.) they are up you just didn't look hard enough to find them LOL there is a link in one of Desertthorn's anniversary topics to the ADBB topic with them. The first time I posted them Photobuckets crashed. Seems it got the wholeworldwantstosee2BIG4MYSIZEpics virus, and and then cause folk copied my link and pasted it elsewhere to "share" with others my account bandwidth was used up in one day.Even had an admin on one board share it with the folk on his board
What part of the Atkins Diet did you find hardest in the first few months that you were doing it? well the hardest from day one was no caffeine I was a 24 can a day Diet coke drinker abut after I got caffeine free it was the no milk cause for a milk lover 1/2 cream 1/2water just ain't the same!
Now that you've been at goal for a while, do you find that people (like new casual acquaintances) even know you're on a diet? nope, nobody realizes it. even had folk tell me they are glad since i lost all the weight I'm eating normal again. it becomes an issue at church dinners when they have a caserol dish but I just bring my own.
[QUOTE=LookingForward]Did you find your skin was able to rebound from your weight loss? (I ask because this is my biggest concern for myself, once I lose all my weight). Whatever happens to your skin will be because oif your genetics. I have "empty skin" that helps remind me how easy it would be to fill it back up. Since i don't care about looks it will stay with me to remind me what once was unless it becomes a health issue with infections from the heat.
What would be your number one piece of advice for a nervous someone who's soon transitioning from Extended Induction to OWL? Don't worry be happy. Expect great continued health and shrinking from all the good for you low glycemic foods you get to add back BUT READ CHAPTER 14 and follow the advice in ADBB stickies for OWL
Do you have a favorite recipe? flax pancakes with pumpkin butter recipe is in database
What was the hardest change for you in beginning Atkins when you first started? giving up the caffeine
Are there any forbidden foods that you still miss or crave? LOL I'm a carboholic and their are legal foods I miss and crave but can't have cause i know what will happen if I do eat them.
What was your most recent cheat (IF you've ever cheated) Megs' chocolate cream. Atkins legal heck even induction legal, but not for me cause I binge on them. Cream and cocoa powder can't be in my house at the same time any more
What are your favorite herbs and spices to cook with? Thanks I love garlic and hot foods so i've got cajun sugarfree herb mixes, lots of dried hot chilies and now that lent has ended habenero peppers again.
I got my lean body mass measured in a dunk tank and had 142 pounds of lean tissue in Dec 03. I was like wow i added 7 pounds of muscle since last measure and put it away not realizing my body fat was below 25% DUH see i'm a muscle fan LOL I had the goal weight from the height weight frame large chart from when somebody told me I needed goals on ADBB back in April 03 so I could be a success as folk having goals to acheive are more suggessful then those who don't. I was so focused on that number when friends would say I was small enough I'd say yeah right and ignore them my doc told me at 173 pounds i could stop now in Feb 04 and i was insulted. I hadn't worked that hard to stop just before the endzone. If somebody hadn't ask me what my body fat % was when i was figuring hers for her based on her lean mass numbers from her gym measuring I might still be bemoaning the fact I've been doing Atkins for almost 4 yrs and still got a few pounds to go.
See if your doc has a way to measure your lean mass, your gym, a health fair in your area, or even by a set of pincers and measure. Once you know ti you can see how the sclaes don't move as your body fat goes down and your lean body goes up when you have a flat loss not cheating working hard in the gym period.
Other than a multi-vitamin is there a favorite or "best" supplement you would recommend for most people? none, I say check your eatting and with your doc and use what you need based on your food picks. I need potassium not calcium during my extened induction according to my blood tests but not during OWL. Had I been following the you need this for your cramps i'd have been taking calcium magnesium supplements that i didn't need.
Did you begin exercising right away when you began the Atkins WOE, or did you phase it in later? What exercises did you begin with, and what was your progression from then until today?
YOu must have not read my posts in the exercise challenges about figuring out what to pledge. I started out from day one walking as far as I could go and thought I was doing super doing 2MPH for 20 min back them. I also did all the free exercise i could like parking far away walking all the aisles of the store before i bought anything doing laps of the mall before entering a store and before the next one.
I added the BFL lifting after I got in better shape cardiovascularly. I tried pilates in summer 03 aqnd as everybody reading back then knows i couldn't kiss my spine with my bellybutton and gave it up.I switched to the High Intensity Interval Training walking in summer 03 and have been doing thast with the BFL style lifting ever since. I trieds the yoga booty ballet recently, but my knees didn't like it so I just walk, lift and get free workouts sitting on my fitness ball messing around
Based on your experience at ADBB, what do you feel is the number one pitfall of newbies to this WOL? not reading the book before they "start" doing Atkins.
