  • T.J.'s adventures in Wonderland

Hey everyone, T. J. is here reporting from the other side of 200 for the first time in 15 years! February seemed to be a slow and frusrating month for weight loss. It was full of ups and downs, a slow moving scale, and was just hard to stay on plan. Despite all of that, my core group of friends in the STAC club would not let me fail. I thank each and every one of them for their support and ask them to share in my success, because it is theirs too. Have a legal treat guys, ya know I'm gonna (mich ultras in the fridge). Here's my weight graph for the month, and while the scale didn't move more often than not, it did move in the right direction.

Everlosing, I know you are getting frustrated, but if you look back, we have been day to day very close in weight. I bet your graph looks very similar. You are having the same "slow" progress that I have had over the last month. It's still 2 pounds a week and that's great. Hang in there, stick out your arm and I'll give you a pull from this side.

                Re: T.J.'s adventures in Wonderland

Thank you everyone, you guys keep me going. I am happy to say that I am still in Wonderland. I was a bit scared because I skipped right over 200 and thought that I would find out it was water weight. I am being especially vigilant today. I have "re-found" many lost pounds, always my fault, but these puppies are LOST and will stay that way.

                    Hi T.J.

Big congratulations to you! That 199 is the best best feeling of all. I hear you re: slow loss. I 've been at my same weight since December. Lost my first 3 lbs since then this past week with the help of the STACer's, the challenge and starting over (another induction).

Are you drinking some kind of beer? What is it exactly? I'd love to have a legal drink once a month or so. Not a big drinker but I'd like to have the name on hand just in case.

                    Again, congrats! S-

After induction and you get a couple of rungs under your belt, feel free to have a few Michelob Ultras. Just remember that it will slow your progress. Some more than others. I seem to get kick started from a few beers. You can also have hard liquor and diet mixers. I have done SF Red Bull and vodka, SF Red Bull and Jagermeister (awful), Captain Morgan and Diet Pepsi, and of course Jack Daniels and Diet Coke. All good in moderation after a successful induction and rung 5 IIRC. Just make sure you lower your expectations for a day or two. If you stall, you'll know why. Booze and diet sodas count as 0 carbs, Mich Ultras 2.6, Miller Lite 3.2, and that MGD 64 is like 2.4 but tastes awful. Be careful of the Mich Ultra Amber. It is marketed like it's low carb, but it has a ton in it. Cheers,

                      T. J.

Thanks Mrs. H! It took longer than I thought it would, but it's been worth it. This has been the most enjoyable bout with Atkins ever. It's the first time I have actually been a member of this community and everyone here has made it so easy.

                              Hi TJ,

Thanks a lot for the alcohol tips - I will really appreciate that over the course of the year. I think that simple compromise really helps me with this way of life and not just losing it over a drink or two. Really thanks and congrats again.
