    Re: 1 month Anniversary

    >>I wanted to update this post to let everyone know that after moving to OWL rung 1 and adding 10 net carb veggies, I>>

    It's 5 net carbs, not 10.

You don't start adding 10 net carbs of anything until pre-maintenance.

      Re: 1 month Anniversary

Below are some links to recipes...maybe you can find some recipes to help you eat different veggies than you are already eating.

Have you ever had Jicama...It is a veggie that many people never heard of, yet when they try it, Jicama becomes their new favorite...It can be eaten raw---slice it up like an apple. Eat it plain or tossed in salt and lime juice. I also fry it....

      My recipe:

I peel it, then slice it first into large thin flat pieces, and then lay the slices on a paper towel for a minute or two to remove the excess moisture so they will fry up ok. Then I slice them into thin strips and fry them in some butter and peanut oil, and when they are almost "burned", I turn off the heat, blot some of the oil off, and then sprinkle some cinnamon on them and give them a toss. Oh so Yummy! I soak up the extra moisture otherwise it seems they never get fried up enough.

        Re: 1 month Anniversary

Mission to lose and Polar King, those are great ideas for some new veggie ideas thanks. Atkinsgal08, the reason I added ten was that i was misreading fitday carbs and I realized I was severly under eating carbs so I added ten instead of just five. On monday we will see if this was a good idea.

Hey everyone, the Monday results are in and I lost 7 pounds last week after moving to OWL rung 1! Thanks for all of your advice. I don't imagine that rate of weight loss will continue, but I have lost 17 pounds in 39 days. Thats just over 3 lbs per week. Woohoo!! Any advice moving forward or lessons learned would be apprciated.

Awesome. I just wanted to applaud your perseverance because you didn't give up and were able to go back and look at what you may or may not have been doing "wrong" or maybe not completely right LOL. Way to go. I too saw better results when I upped my veggies. Can't wait to try that Jicama I read about.

              God Bless

                Adreliluc and Soulthinking,

Thnak you for your kind words. Growing up as a fat kid it is really nice to have such great support on my weight loss journey! The Jicama does sound wonderful.....I just can't find it anywhere. Any suggestions? I have a Whole Foods, Roots and Trader Joes near me and I couldn't find it at any of them......

Missiontolose, could you add sugar to the cinnamon and eat them as a desert?

                    Re: 1 month Anniversary

Alright!!! The weight started coming off again and I have lost three pounds in two days....It seems that I need to make sure that I get in enough healthy fats from avocados and bacon to keep the weight loss happening. If I maintain the same number of calories, but my ratios are even slightly lower than 60/30/10, I stop losing weight. Next week I may add tomaotes back into my diet to make sure they were not the cause of my short "stall." I know it was most likely my one cheat a few weeks ago so i want to make sure they are not the reason.......I love tomatoes!

Talk to everyone on Monday when I weigh in officially for the week. If I get under 270 pounds I will be a happy man. If I stay where I currently am, I will be happier than when I was 290 pounds.

                    Take care everyone!

                      Re: 1 month Anniversary

I Didn't want to take up any room with another thread so I will add to this "celebration forum" thread.........Today, I was 269 pounds! That's 21 pounds in 8 weeks or 2.5 pounds per week. That is exactly what I had planned and I am happy with that weight loss. My Exercise routine has been slipping lately with four children three and under who refuse to sleep through the night, but I am determined. Week long business trip to Michigan this week so I will be able to workout everyday.

I have not been under 250 pounds since my Freshman year of High School and for some reason, my brain will not let me feel successful until I hit 249 pounds. It is funny, I am still convincing myself that I really haven't lost much weight. I keep telling myself it is mostly water weight that I have lost and not fat.......

Hey, skinny guy in there, will you stand up and speak out! Fat Bastard in there, will you go away. My trip to New Mexico in the Spring is my motivation!
