  • November Newbies

I just want to tell each and every one of you how impressed I am with you. Starting a diet in November right before the holidays takes a lot of courage and fortitude and I am so glad you joined us.
Just since the 1st of November, we have 66 new members, and thats only the ones who have actually joined and posted. I know there are others out there who are just to shy to post. I guess that also tells you a lot about how low carb is going out of fashion. DONT THINK SO>
Anyway, welcome to all of you.

Thanks. I'm one of the November starters. I'm so glad I posted because I've received good advice and encouragement from you guys. This is the first forum I've actually joined and posted to. Usually I'm a lurker because I see all the negative, mean comments people post on other message boards and I don't want to subject myself to them. I've only ever saw positive comments and encouragement here. Thanks again.

Hey! What about us cowardly January joiners... you know...we who joined after having pigged out all over Christmas and New Year! Oh the courage it took to wave goodbye to those carbs, after all the fun... (sheesh, but we January joiners don't half have to fish for compliments around here!!!) but sooo good to wave goodbye to all the extra pounds too. And then, suddenly the diet isn't a diet any longer, just an incredibly enjoyable way to eat. Really easier and easier. Hang in there you November lot. It's oh so worth it, whenever you join!

                    Re: November Newbies

Hi there! I just started today (November 23rd) insane huh?? Tomorrow is Thanksgiving!! I've been playing with the idea and had actually intended to start the atkins diet months ago - but somehow I just never got around to it. Today, I had to put on some "warm weather" clothes for the first time this year and WOW, it hit me hard just how much weight I have gained in the last 2 years.

A few years ago (okay, about 7 years ago) I was on Atkins and successfully lost over 30 lbs - then I got pregnant in 2002 and wham! There went all the weight I'd lost... or I guess here came all the weight I'd lost!

Anyway, I'm glad to have found some support! With my husband gone, I have no support anymore and my 3 year old doesn't give a poo about it. (she just loves her mommy any old way)

                          Hi angel,

I started on Halloween, but (YAY) I made it through just fine and sent the remaining candy to school with my daughter. I'm sure the teachers loved me for that! I did cheat on Thanksgiving with a very small bite of pumpkin pie, but unlike in the past, I stopped at just that bite and didn't cave in by going face down in the bowl of mashed potatoes! I even worked out for 45 minutes that day too.

This is the second time for me also. This board is great. I have been lurking for a couple of weeks and decided I may as well join in all the fun.

                          We're going to get there!
