Hello everyone. I'm Rob and I'm a 38 year old guy from the Clearwater, Florida area. I'm not sure if I'm a 'Success Story' yet because I haven't actually reached my target size/weight yet but I can say the Atkins diet is working for me.
To give you some idea of where I was and where I am now, I'm a bit over 5' 8" tall and I weighed about 240lbs. In short, I was waaay to heavy. My doctor said my blood pressure and blood test results were a direct path to heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. I was so overweight that I couldn't get medical insurance for myself. I think that's what made me realize, I'm 37 and 50-75 pounds overweight. It's time to do something about it.
I guess you could say I started the Atkins diet after that visit to the doctor. I didn't read the book but did some research online to get an idea of what I needed to do. I followed a strict diet of keeping carbs as low as possible. I made it through the early period without too much trouble, I think mostly because I could see and feel that it was working. I lost a good bit quickly (can you say motivation?) and have continued to keep my carbs as low as possible because it's working. I'm about 50lbs less than I was and more importantly, I feel and look much better than before the weight loss. I'll try to come up with some before and after pics for my profile soon.
