  • Made it one week!

Hi I'm new to this - and just finished my first week. I felt like I did it clean - but I'm prettty upset because I didn't lose any weight. When I got on the scale a few days ago I had lost 4 lbs. - now it says nothing. Anyone have this experience? My biggest question is what are the portion sizes supposed to be? That might be where I'm messing up. If someone could direct me where to look in the book or website - I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

I am excited about this lifestyle because I really believe it makes sense.

I guess I'm supposed to be introducing myself...I am an artist and have a great husband and grandson (4) - kids don't count anymore! Look forward to knowing you all! Carol

    Re: Made it one week!

welcome to ADBB and to Atkins.

Did you start a new to youo exercise program? if so the increase in fluids in your tissues can acount for the new pounds. don't worry fluid weight it temp.
Portions for veggies and cheese are givenin chapter 11 of DANDR and in the 14 day induction board. Other foods have no portion size as we are all supposed to eat only enough of the proteins and fats as we need to satisfy our hunger at the time we are eating and stop. As you know hunger will change from day to day so if today you are very hungry and it takes 3 eggs in your omlette and 2 ounces of cheese then you eat allthat tomoorow it might take just 1 ounce of cheese or one egg.

That ishow atkins works it is appetite control through carbohydrate control which in turn leads to caloric control casue we only eat enough of the proteins and fats to satisfy our hunger.

Welcome Carol, just don't get discouraged, you will see the scale move. It could be anything that caused it to not move. Are you drinking enough water ? For me to lost weight it is crucial I drink enough water. When I drink water I lose very well, without it, I hardly lose at all.
I know you will be seeing that scale do down soon !! Stephie

I cannot begin to tell you how much your comments meant! Thanks to all.
Here is my menu for the days I put it in. I'm just learning how to use this site, so I didn't do a very good job of the exercise part. I'm also confused if its a true count of my calories because they add in margarine to cook the eggs and I use butter - so I add that in separately. Oh well - I guess calories don't matter anyway.
http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJournals.html?Owner=cstraq I did make a decision that I CAN DRINK MY WATER. So starting today, I am monitoring that also! Thanks so much guys! Carol

Don't Fret. The same thing happened to me. I'm at the start of my second week. I weighed myself like 4 days in and I had lost 3 lbs. Then today I weighed myself and the scale said the same weight as I started with. I was dissapointed, but I'm not going to give up yet. So don't give up all the work you did will eventually pay off
