Re: Getting Married in 38 Days

Congrats on setting the big date!

You will lose a lot of weight on induction if you stick to it. Watch your cheese intake - no more than 4 ounces a day! (This is an issue with me!)

    Good Luck

Laura Lee, you CAN do this. I started at 289 lbs and in the first 38 days I lost 44lbs. If you lose that by your wedding that dress will be so comfortable you'll feel just great. GET THE BOOK! It is really important to read it and understand.

Lots of salad and green vegetables, and protein including cheese (up t0 3 oz daily). Remember, Induction is only 2 weeks and you can do anything for 2 weeks. I lost 11 kgs (24 1/2 lbs) on Induction and it was EASY! I ate lots of food and was never hungry. STick with it, the results are really worthwhile.

Re: Getting Married in 38 Days

I have two suggestions for you:
        1) Start some sort of exercising--walking is fantastic! Go out on your lunch hour, or go right after work. Walk up and down the street, or find a community park with a track, just start moving right from the get go.
        2) Don't even bother with a scale. Once a week, put on that wedding dress. That would be motivation for me and tell such a bigger story than the one the scale might or might not show you.

Re: Getting Married in 38 Days

Thank you all for your great suggestions...I am going to try to start walking in the evenings, after I get my fiance's daughter, Allyssa, into bed. I only get a half hour lunch, but I usually just end up eating at my desk in between answering the phone. Then I have to rush to pick up Allyssa from extended day care, etc. I am constantly running around, and would just grab something quick like pop tarts, etc to eat on the run, and then it got to where I was constantly thinking about what my next meal would be. I hate thinking about food constantly. It's not been too bad the past day or so, but sometimes, I just want something thats awful for me. My fiance brought a pizza home last night, and that was torture. I ended up peeling the cheeze off of a slice, wiping the sauce off (not too big on pizza sauce anyway) and eating it that way. I was satisfied that way, though. I haven't been eating too much cheese, which surprises me. I am a big cheese fan, in fact, my grandmother used to joke that thats how I got fat in the first place, I would go to her house and cut off a big block of cheese! I've been eating more turkey than anything. mmmm turkey rolled up in lettuce (can you tell I'm trying to psyche myself up?) I'm looking forward to recieving my book, And thats a great idea about trying on the dress once a week. I think that I will do that. it will keep me motivated!
          Thanks again,
          Laura

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!! I'm also getting married (in 87 days, yay!).. a year ago picturing how I was going to look in a wedding dress was a huge motivation for me, and still is.. Tomorrow I go try on dresses and I am scared of how bad I might look in the mirror... Anyway you sound like you are on the right track, keep it up and PM me if you want to talk!

Re: Getting Married in 38 Days

Hi Everyone... Thank you for being such a supportive group of people. I like to visit the board several times a day to help me stay on track. I have to confess. My first day that I started, I cheated. After I got home from work, I ate a pop tart and penne alfredo that my fiance brought home to me. I was very disappointed with myself, but since Thursday the 26th, I have been very strict about it. Mostly Turkey and lettuce, or tuna and lettuce. Yesterday, I was down 3 lbs from my starting weight, and today, I am down an additional 3 lbs. Thats 6 lbs down in just 4 days. I am very pleased. I still have all kinds of temptation, like my fiance's daughter asked me to make cinnamon rolls for her this morning, and I did, but I haven't eaten any of them. My poor fiance doesn't quite understand the concept of the Atkins diet, my stepmom and I are doing it together, and last night, he told me that I could have a reese cup and he wouldn't tell her. Oh well, I had the willpower to tell him "I DON'T THINK SO!"
Thanks for listening to mewhen I need to talk,

Well done on the 6 lbs! And well done for resisting the loved ones wo are 'just trying to help' - they are the worst thing for us, albeit unwittingly. Don't freak out if you do falter, just put it behind you and keep eating correctly. One fall doesn't mean you've blown the whole deal.

Re: Getting Married in 38 Days

Hi, I just thought that I would post an update. I've been doing Atkins for one week today, and I am already down 9.5 lbs. YAY! I'm on track to looking okay in mywedding dress. I had a couple of bites of tuna and egg salad around 11 this morning, but was so busy at work, I didn't get a chance to eat my lunch! so, after I picked my fiance's daughter up from extended day care, we stopped by subway and I had a Chicken and Bacon Ranch wrap, with 9 net carbs. I was so hungry, I knew that if I came home that hungry, I would eat something from the kitchen thats loaded with carbs. So, i don't think that i did too bad, but i still feel very guilty! I love and hate that guilty feeling. Well, I guess its time to go try on that wedding dress!
                    a bientot,

We have a motto here at ADBB be prepared if you know this is a problem for you always have cheese on hand, keep hard boiled eggs in the fridge and maybe a sald ready to go or celery sticks with cream cheese, also really push that water you would be less hungry. You may have knocked yourself out of ketosis if you are this hungry.

Laura Lee, congrats on the continued weight loss. Just wanted to mention to you that wraps are not allowed on Induction! DId you get a chance to get the book? This way you would know for sure what you can and should be eating, and accelerate your weight loss. Keep up exercising as well, that will help tremendously! Keep up the great work, your wedding gown will need alterations to take it in!!!

This is a great place- it has been my sanity at times. When I want to give up- all it takes is one peek at reslut photos and I'm reenergized. If we can do it- you can do it!

38 days closer to a healthier you, a new life + a wedding. Goodluck!
