  • Hi! Friends wanted...Support needed!

    Hi everyone!

I'm a 29 year old (actually thirtysomething) married gal and mom who is on her second week of atkins. So far so good. Before Atkins I was feeling so bad that when I woke up in the morning my legs ached so badly I could barely stand up. I had to hold onto the furniture in order to get myself to the bathroom. But.... after just two or three days on this diet I feel a ton better. I have about 100 lbs to lose but I don't have a scale so I'm not sure. I will be going scale shopping this weekend. But I'm wearing a size 22 pants and 22/24 top. I have a lot to lose and I'm looking for friends to laugh with as I shrink my way down to a size 10? Anyway.... It's nice to meet all of you.

I am on week 4 and it really does get better! Just hang in there and follow it to the tee and you be feeling better in no time. It will also make you feel really good as you see the pounds fall off. Make sure you take your measurements too. There might be times when the scale won't move, but the inches will!

        Yes its good to get a scale and a measuring tape that way when the scale is being bad you can whip it with the tape Also I just found a way to tell if I am in ketosis. I walk up to one of my friends and say "HHHHHHHHEEEELLLLOOOO" right in their face and really heavy on the "H" If their legs buckle and they pass out I know;
A.) I am in ketosis and
        B.) I need a tic tac.

          Hi Kara!!

You've certainly come to the right place. I've been on Atkins before and had great success. I fell off the wagon so to speak but now I'm back. Although I didn't contribute posts on this site my first time around, I acted as a "fly on the wall" and was comforted to see so many others in my position and working so hard.

I know that we can do it!

              Re: Hi! Friends wanted...Support needed!

Kara, Congratulations on making a decision that will change your life!

Use this board as your support. Even without a scale, you can measure your success in the way your clothes fit and the measurements on a tape measure. Start measuring today, you can get a tape measure (for sewing) at Walmart, or a dollar store.

Take measurements all over your body, you'll be surprised where you can lose weight, and it'll be all over! There's a site where you can get directions on where to measure and to keep track of your measurements called mybodycomp.com and it's free. Or get you a spiral bound notebook to keep track of your weight loss and inches lost. It's a good way to keep up with it all.

As some others mentioned, the first two weeks is the hardest. Commit yourself to two weeks at first...anyone can do it for two weeks right?? At the end of that first two weeks you are going to FEEL FABULOUS...and then you can move on to the next phase of the diet by adding foods in, or you can stay on induction for a while longer.

Go look at all the before and after pictures, they are so inspirational! Be active on this site, it will help you as you help others. We are truly a support forum!

                    Hi Kara,

Welcome to the bb. I'm so glad that you have come here for support. I just came here for for the same reason. I lost 100 pounds a while back and maintained it for 4 years and then gained back 50 pounds around 4 -5 months ago( medical & medication complications). So, I'm on the boards looking for as much support and guidance as possible to get back to my goal weight. I know it's possible to be there again. And, I know that you can do it too.

I look forward to seeing you on the boards as we reach our goals!

                      Kara,

Welcome and good luck. I discovered this board after doing Atkins after the birth of my first two kids. Now, I'm working to shed the weight of the last child and this board has REALLY helped keep me focused. I LOVE the encouragement, the friendliness, and the openness of everything. Hopefully, you will too!
                      GOOD LUCK!
