I'm sure someone else mentioned this, but, please measure yourself! I lost 24 pounds in my first two months, yet, the measuring tape told me I lost 4/4/6 1/2 inches off my body.. It's the next best thing you can do and most people I know rather see inches fly than weight Being a woman, you're gonna see fluctuations in your weight anyway. I'm restarting after a round of medical issues set me back.. If you'd like you can send me a message to talk one on one

Re: Starting again at 329 <sigh>

Just measured myself. Starting stats: 52, 48, 64. Thigh 35, under bust 44. on 12th Sept. Today: exactly the same!
Don't want to start using the tape to distress myself as I have with the scales!
I'm so depressed today I have no idea where I am going to get the motivation to go swimming. Must leave in ten minutes or cannot go at all as appointment later.
Oh dear.
3lb gain again this week, gained 6lb this week. Unbelievable, yet true.

Did you manage to get yourself to the pool this morning?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: Starting again at 329 <sigh>

The 6lb weight gain was a lie! I did walk to the pool and I weighed myself on the super-duper expensive machine that costs 50p a pop. I was 23-2. Not 23-6 as my own scale said!

So all is well, and I was totally cock-a-hoop in the pool. I found a quiet corner and talked out loud to myself as I jogged vigourously underwater, saying over and over again, in time with the jogging:

"O thank you God! O thank you Doctor Atkins, it was all a mistake, I'm okay, I haven't gained, it wasn't real, oh what a relief. Now I am going to be better than ever... I am going to jog harder, swim faster, get completely out of breath, march home to the music (I have an MP3 player), stick with Dr Atkins, he knows best, gotta just trust, gotta just keep on with it...left, right, left, right, keep going, keep going, everything's fine, it's working, I'm losing, I'm gonna be a big loser, big loser, left, right, left right" etc.

Then I looked up and saw a very bemused lifeguard standing right over me, listening to all that private stuff! EEEEKKKK!

Helena, YOU know I am the guru of postive self talk...not really a guru, but I just believe we CAN TOUCH THE CORE of OURSELVES...I am so glad a little bit of good news, has come up and captured your spirit...Keep saying those marching words over and over, make them your mantra! Cling to their meaning, and work that meaning into your life...We often start to believe what we hear, and I put myself in positive places and I speak to myself positively and I encouragement myself and I also tell myself, WHAT WE"RE GONNA DO...I don't let my emotions call the shots very often, nor to I allow them to dictate my attitudes....IT"S INCREDIBLY HARD...but they are only feelings that were completely WRONG in your case...Once the scales showed you the truth!!! The emotions CHANGED, imagine that...
I am so happy for you, we have been pulling for you, and doing all we can across the pond! Hang in there girl...

Yes it is hard at first, but it gets soo much easier!

Don't despair! We're in this together. I had a one-to-one buddy but she gave up after only 2 weeks, leaving me buddy-less!

If you can commit to this, and let's face it, at 300 pounds plus we HAVE TO, then send me a PM and we can exchange email addresses, and support each other one-to-one

Well I think it does, for several reasons. Firstly it's just getting into the habit of a new way of eating; secondly once you are off sugar for a while the craving for it diminishes, and thirdly once you see results, you won't want to mess up !

Hi Helena,

I haven't posted in awhile. I'm the mom with the 6 daughters, 5 of whom still live at home. 3 in college and 2 in high school. My eldest is married and lives down the street, she is the mommy to my perfect little granddaughter; and giving me a grandSON in february. I work full time driving that school bus, and also date a wonderful guy........I just haven't alot of time to get on here. I told you, my weight loss is so slow it's incredible, but it is a weight loss. each month I go to my doctor and get weighed there. Now, I gotta tell ya, at home, I weigh myself nude, so there's no wondering about the clothing, but at the doctors, well, one can't do that. LOL. when I went to my appt first week of October, I had only lost 2 lbs. but, so what? I have learned to shrug it off. I still lost. In July I lost 10 lbs, but you can't get that every time. In your mantras, add this one and keep saying it. It's not a race, you don't have to lose weight in any specific time to be a winner. You already win the minute you start the diet. It's not a race it's not a race it's not a race...........

If I go out to eat, I ask millions of questions, and have sent the waitress into the kitchen to ask about things. I'm never rude or pushy, and I always seem to get answers from waitresses who are more then willing to accomodate without ever making me feel as if I'm being a pain.
I haven't heard you say that you have been discouraged from anyone from this. I took alot of flack when I started this diet, from tons of people who told me how unhealthy it is. well, I'm up to 60 lbs lost. and I feel pretty good. so, when people tell me how unhealthy it is, I don't even answer. I don't need to defend my actions, heck, my weight loss speaks for itself.......

hang in there. Theresa
