  • Discouraged....

Hi everyone. I am a bit discouraged and need some help (from the ladies, especially) I am on the 10th day of induction and have made great progress. I've gone from 143.5 to 134.5. Is it normal for weight to fluctuate up and down a little? I haven't cheated and have been following like I should with what I've done so far but today the scale says 136. That bums me out. (not to the point that I want to quit, though ) Also, does water weight from my period have anything to do with that? I should start in a day or two and if that's what it is, that's OK with me. I won't even look at the scale until it's all over with. Any replies would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to be discouraged for nothing. Thanks!

    Sersgirl,

Don't be discouraged. Step away from the scale. The scale is not your friend at this time of the month. Anything can make you retain water, such as eating too much salt so no one can say what is causing the gain. But, if your TOM is close, then just avoid the scale. All will go back to normal soon enough. You are doing everything right! Stay strong!!!

Welcome, Sersgirl! Chin up - scales are totally your enemy during induction, before and during TOM, after eating salty food, after overexertion, after certain meds, etc...

      You are doing GREAT!

If you don't cheer up now, get ready for this:

        Hi sersgirl!

Yes, weight does fluctuate (that can be frustrating, I know). I think you're doing great at 136...good job! Keep it up!

I stay away from the scale during TOM, because I know it will be inaccurate. There's just no point in weighing myself when I know the numbers will be "false" ones during TOM.

          Re: Discouraged....

Its not only women whose weight flucuates. My body has this tendency to add a few pounds from sunday thru wednesday (about 4) and then from thursday to saturday I drop it and some more. Don't know if I eat differently on the weekends that causes the increases or what. The only thing that is important is the downward trend that is revealed over weeks.

I know the frustration too. But now that I know what my body does, it doesn't bother me because I know by the end of the week I will be lower than the week before.

              Re: Discouraged....

i know from my own experience that its best n ot to weigh yourself very often. I weigh myself once a fortnight at the most, but more than likely once a month because its so disheartening when you havent changed much or even worse you have put on weight.
its especially bad when you have lost a load the week before.

if you are planning to lose weight long term then it doesnt matter how long it takes
