  • First Timer!

    Hello!

    My Name is Jennifer and I am from New England. I am currently the heaviest I have ever been and cannot stand it any longer!

    I have tried a few different diets ( the usual suspects ) with little to no success.

    For years now I have watched people around me be sussessful on Atkins, always sceptical about how healthy the diet really is...then it dawned on me that it cannot be healthy to eat candy, and chocolate ( sugars of all sorts ) anyway, carry around excess baggage and be so unhappy with your weight and food selection....( after you have eaten it )

    Not to mention that my cousin, a diabetic and celiac ( spelling?) managed to be in good heath eating very close to what the Atkins diet is all about....( she looks better then ever! )

    I wanted to start now to make sure I am good and ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas binges...not to mention I go to Walt Disney World every year for 2 weeks and I want to be in the best shape of my life next October and fully rid of sugar and bad carbs ( the bikini factor would be great too! )

    I have lurked for a few days and am very impressed with the willpower you all have when it comes to sticking to this woe...I am on day 4 with NO CHEATING and feel GREAT!....I am already experiencing the "Its time to eat already?"....

    I look foward to all of your support in my transition to healthy living.

    Welcome to the wonderful world of ADBB Jennifer. Congrats on making it to 4 days cheat free so far. Keep up the good work and keep posting with your progress.

      Hey Jennifer! Welcome to the board! Make sure you read around the main board to be sure you're eating properly. Healthy living does not include holiday binges! I'm sure by the time the holidays roll around, you will be so far into this that you will NOT WANT to have any binges. I hope so anyway!

        I know! I was not planning on any binges ( fingers crossed )

        My weakness will be stuffing and gravy, if I can stay away from that on Thanksgiving then christmas will be a breeze....the way I feel now only 4 days into the diet I am VERY hopeful, I have had NO urges for carbs or candy ect........

            Go check out Linda's low carb site, maybe there's a faux stuffing recipe there! That's the beauty of this. So many wonderful recipes that are totally legal, yet you feel like you're having the real thing! Also, when you move up all the rungs, grains will be in your food repetroire, so you could actually have "stuffing"!

                Hi Jennifer! Welcome to the Atkins way of life...and nice to meet you. I saw on the "How long can you go" challenge that it's day 4 and you're still cheat free...congrats!

                The best thing about Atkins, for me, as that there are SO many delicious receipes. And tons of Atkins-friendly foods for the holidays. Be sure to check out the food section.

                    Woo Hoo, 4 days cheat free is a wonderful thing to say...and hard earned...Glad you are here, there is so much to read, and people to meet, and thoughts to think about and adopt, like no binges...
                    The holidays can be negotiated, planned for and over come! I am convinced that can be!...
                    I want to be all the more healthier, happier and closer to a good weight on Jan 1, 2007...I want the new year to start out with a really high note...I want to feel confident, and in control ready for a whole new year...To get there, I have to wade through the holidays...

                        I went over to Fitday and entered some stuff

                        Looks like I have been keeping my carbs to about 12-14grams a day!
