  • New Guy, just started induction!

I've been on the induction plan for about 4 days, I feel fantastic!!1 It's like I'm on speed or something...lol I think I goofed last night though, I bought some bacon that said sugar free and had a zero carb listing ( Plumrose brand)....but it has Dextrose in it....I already ate it...I didn't realize that dextrose could throw me out of Ketosis. Those naughty bacon people !!! Can anyone suggest a brand that's good for us inductees that I could find at Wally-World or Kroger?

Anyway, I'm still feeling pretty good. I think I'll stick to some chicken and tuna salad with real mayo and a bit of onion for a day or two with my greens. O.K. I'm babbling. My name is Shawn, I'm 33, and I'm happy to start Atkins at 215 lbs. My goal is 33 waist, regardless of wieght!

Another thing I've noticed is that my appetite is ravenous at times, and non-existent at others....I've been eating like a horse, not stuffing myself of course...just constantly grazing....is this O.K. or should I be trying to restrict what I eat to some extent? I just get so HUNGRY here and there....very strange. It's like I HAVE to eat a little something or I'll go nuts ( of course....no nuts yet....lol)

I'm babbling again...lol. This is a great site and all your stories are so encouraging....i KNOW I can do this without cheating....i just keep finding hidden sugars in some of the stuff I bought ....not much though....I still feel incredible! So should i not drink an Atkins Advantage shake for my breakfast anymore? Oh well , I'm off to make my first mock-danish!

    Peace to all!

    Shawn

    Hi Shawn!

Kroger has their own brand of bacon that comes in sugar free. It's lower sodium too.

Rock on Shawn! Welcome! The more you kick it here, the more you'll learn and be encouraged! Shakes might make you stall so you might want to limit or cut them out all together. I'm sure you'll be down to your 33s in no time!

Hey shawn, I love your enthusiasm!

Bacon - I love the kroger brand it is my favorite.

Appetite - When i first started this WOE i was hungry all the time. It is normal but gradually i became less hungry less often. I didn't notice any beginning stats. How tall are you and what is your start weight if you don't mind me asking?

O.K. so the shakes are out for now, I'll just keep 'em till later. I was just at the store and sheesh, everything has sugar in it....I mean EVERYTHING...lol. Oh my current wiegth is 215 lbs and I'm 5 ft 11, size 38 pants....YIKES!. Kind of TEDDY BEARISH, looking I guess...lol. I want to be more lean and muscular looking. I'm starting to get a bit paranoid here, because I'm finding carbs in everything. This bacon thing has got me mad...that's one of the reasons I like Atkins.... because I can have bacon. So even if the carb and sugar count is zero...it still has enough sugar to stall a person usually? That bites...LOL I'm totally crying, because I like, LIVED on bacon and eggs the first three days......but I feel so good though...my energy level is crazy, like a little kids...I must be in Ketosis ( can't afford the stix to find out yet)....ahhh I'll get it figured out...lol. thanks for saying hello everyone, and for your help. The before and after pics are amazing.....I'll just have to get mine in there too won't I. I can't WAIT to see them 33's again.

            Peace All

                    Hey Nichole,

Be sure to check out the packages. Kroger has regular bacon and one with no sugar.

Hi Shawn! Welcome to the board. You're already on the right track since you've found out you need to read labels and search for the right products to put in your mouth! Keep in mind that the advertisers out there rely on people who don't actually read labels to buy their products!

I weighed myself again last night...and I've lost two more pounds!!! I know I shouldn't weigh in more than once a week but I couldn't help it...lol. That brings me to 8 pounds lost so far for the first week! Woohoo! I met a nurse at work who knows alot about Atkins ( she was on it for years). She has lots of recipe tricks that she's sharing with me. I'm happy to say that I haven't cheated once....haven't even felt weak...but I haven't gotten any ketostix still, of course I imagine if I weren't in ketosis then I wouldn't feel this good or be losing this quick...this is too awesome! Atkins Rocks!!!!

                              Peace to all
