Hi!
I'm the mother of 3 children: 15B/11G/6G. I went back to college two years ago to get my bachelor's degree, so I have been doing a lot of sitting, reading textbooks and eating (pretzels, m&ms, potato chips, whatever) to stay awake. I'm a lot fatter, but I graduate in December!
Before going back to school, I lost 30 pounds 3 times with weight watchers. I think it's funny that everyone says that Atkins only works if you're actively doing the program, and that you'll gain all your weight back as soon as you stop. Well, duh! That's true of WW and any other weight-loss diet. I'm proof! Anyway, I am now at my all-time (non-pregnant) high weight. I--literally--have nothing to wear that fits. Thank goodness I'm home with the kids this summer so I can wear my pajamas all day! (Though my hubby does not think my cotton Mickey Mouse jammies are very sexy or glamorous.) I bought some size 16 jeans over spring break, and now I can't breathe while I'm in them. I think this is God's way of telling me to lose some inches! It's a wake-up call, nevertheless.
I have known many people who lost a lot of weight on Atkins. I don't know of anyone personally who met their goal weight doing it, but they came within 10 pounds or so. Too, I've known many people who had weight loss surgery who never got to their goal weight either, and Atkins is a whole lot cheaper! I wouldn't mind being within 10 pounds of my goal...really, I would be THRILLED! More importantly, I hope to find a WOE that is easy, healthy, and not something I have to obsess over. I also want to avoid yo-yoing. If it works, I want it to be a forever thing.
Immediately, though, my goal is to lose 12 to 15 pounds so I can fit into my clothes again. I think my self-esteem will be much higher when I can actually wear my clothes and breathe at the same time.
Quick question about counting carbs: if an item's label says <1 g, should I count it as 1 or zero?
Also: I have urinated more in the last two days than I have in the past two weeks (hyperbole, but you know what I mean!). I'm exhausted because I got up no less than four times in the night to wee. Yes, I'm drinking more water, but I was drinking lots of caffeine before (caffeine being a diuretic), and I didn't go as often as I have in the past 48 hours. Is this normal? Will it taper off soon?
Good news, my chemstick shows a tinge of pink after only 48 hours. I hope that's a good sign.
Thanks for the support!
