  • Just getting started...

    Hi there~

My name is Jen, and this is my first real attempt at Atkins in a number of years. I know that it worked for me in the past, and then I got off the wagon, in a big way. My husband and I started full force about 3 weeks ago, and since then I'm down 8.5 lbs and he's down 14 lbs, so we're certainly encouraged by the results and plan to stay with this and work through the program to help us get and stay healthy.

I guess a little more about me... Just turned 32, married a bit over a year ago, work from home, ridiculously sedentary but working on it. I found this site about a week ago when looking at before and after pics for inspiration, and there's so much great information and things going on here that I thought it would really benefit me to participate, so here we go...

I'll post pics and stats and all that stuff as more progress is made and I get more comfortable with the boards. One thing I was trying to figure out, though... When you measure inches lost, what all do you measure to calculate that? I'm guessing there's a sort of standardized way to do that, but for the life of me I haven't been able to track it down...

Thanks in advance for your help, your stories and success have already helped me to stay on track!

    Best,
    Jen

Had a baby almost 2 years ago but still have as much to lose as I did before she arrived... But before I got preggo I lost 22 lbs doing Atkins, so it's time to get back on track!

    Start (4/26/10): 254.2/Current (5/10/10): 248/Goal: 150
Week 1 loss: 4.4 lbs; Week 2 loss: 1.8 lbs

    1st goal: 240
    2nd goal: 225
    3rd goal: 210
    4th goal: 195
    5th goal: 180
    6th goal: 165
    Final goal: 150

WElcome to the board and congratulations on your loss so far!

A lot of us use the site mybodycomp.com (aka fittogether.net) in order to track our inches lost. It gives you where to measure and will compare different dates for you!

Hi Jen! You ticker works! Welcome to the board. Here another site that's interesting about body fat.

If you're sedentary at your desk, have you thought of buying a stability ball to use as a desk chair? I've done that in the past and it's quite a challenge!

                  Re: Just getting started...

Thank you guys so much for all the helpful info and the warm greetings, I know I'm feeling really good about having made this change and really sticking with it this time. I'm encouraged because I read somewhere that it takes 21 days to change a habit, and here we are about 25 days out and feeling heaps better and not missing the old ways, so fingers are crossed! (And brain is engaged and clothes are fitting better and walks are being taken...) I will definitely be posting around and getting to know the boards better, thanks so much for making me feel welcome! And I'm down another pound and a half, so I get to update my ticker already! Yay! (I'm not usually so exclamation point-y, I'm just giddy when it comes to my shrinkage...)

                  Thanks again,
                  Jen
