  • On day 12 of Induction and I only lost 2 lbs!

I am following this book like a bible!! I don't understand why only 2 lbs!!!! This is very depressing, Im working so hard, doing 30 min a night on a treadmill and I am NOT cheating one bit!! why only 2lbs??? I'm so sad. I thought this would work. EVeryone says such good things about this diet, especially how fast it works. I know I wasnt supposed to weight myself until Sunday but I couldnt help it, I wanted a sneak preview and ended up getting so disappointed. Has this happened to anyone?? By the way, Im only trying to loose 12 lbs, can that be why??
    Thanks

Thats exactly why, you can expect to lose 10-15% of your weight loss goal during induction, now wait until you are done with your two weeks and move up the ladder!

so it will take me longer because I have less to loose then?

ugh!!! that's not good news!! LOL, I guess I'll just stay on it, and as you said, I will weight myself Sunday and see what the final 2 week result is.
      Thanks!

You're welcome, I know it's hard being patient when you see soooo many people losing like 20 lbs in their two weeks but you have so little to lose you have to expect it to be slower than someone who has lots to lose. You're doing great, you lost almost 20 percent in induction, thats perfect!

Mindfreak .. if it's any consolation, I have been on the diet for over two weeks and lost 8lbs. On previous occasions I have lost 10 or more. I guess you should think that of those two weeks you take 3 maybe 4 days to get ketotic.
Plus as you point out you don't have that much to loose. And you are daily excercising too .. how do your clothes feel??
This is not just about absolute weight
Stick with it for a couple more weeks .. don't chuck it in so quickly
          Start weight 233 lbs .. 16 st 9 lbs ..105.8 kg (eek!!)
.... looking to lose at least 2 stone .. (28 lbs .. for the Americans )

Hey mindfreak! Welcome to the board. The others are correct if you only need to lose less than 20 pounds. You should probably go straight to OWL if you are in ketosis. Right there, it will probably kick start your loss. I would say that so far, looks like you're doing just fine.

Ditto what the others said. You're doing splendidly!
Make sure you move to OWL (ongoing weight loss) pretty quick, as you haven't much to lose!

Re: On day 12 of Induction and I only lost 2 lbs!

Thank you all so much for the kind words. I will hang in there until Sunday as planned to make it a full 2 weeks, then I will go go to OWL. Once I got thru the first few days of Induction I was fine. I'm actually doing pretty good on it, I'm no longer craving my junk addictions, and Im eating less at my meals than I was the first 7 days and I am feeling satisfied with the smaller meals. I guess I am just looking for a hugh reward by doing this!!
clothes feel a little better, but there are still jeans I can't get zipped! :-(
That's my goal, to wear the clothes I wore last year this time!!!!

                  Hi from New Jersey

                  Hi everyone,
My name is Lori and I'm from NJ. I am 44 years old, 5'feet tall and weighing in at 121. I am very petite with small bones. Actually, I was always 100lbs-104lbs without trying. while pregnanat I got up to 171lbs!! yep, it was terrible. But luckily i got back down to 109 and stayed there for a long time. This year I started to gain weight and I am at 121. I would love to get back to my 109 to fit into my clothes again!!! 110 is a realistic goal for me. I've been doing induction and following it exactly. weight just doesnt seem to be coming off as quickly as I would like to see. But I will be patient and carry on. After all, eating this way is much better than my old way, full of sugar, carbs and junk!!!

I am so happy I found this board. The forums are so interesting and you people are all so helpful. This place sure is INCENTIVE for me to not quit and carry on.
                  Thank you all so much!

Welcome to the boards Lori! You'll lose that weight if you stick with it! Just remember it's going to take you a little time since it's so little to lose. Best of loss to you!!

You've technically achieved the appropriate amount of weight loss during induction (10%-15% of goal). So, you're on track. You'll have the weight off in no time. Congrats on your progress.

                          Hello,

It's good to read all of the advice because I am experiencing the same thing (slow weight loss). I have about 17 more pounds to lose and have been on Atkins since June 18. However, some of the girls on this site told me that I didn't have much to lose and that is why it's coming off slower. My clothes fit better and I look a lot better in them, so that's a plus. As long as I'm not gaining, I'll be fine. I'm sure one of these days, more pounds will come off. So just keep up the good work as I plan to.

Its been a while since I posted on this board but I'm very happy to be back with all the "losers" Pertaining to Mind Freak's original question; I've noticed that the average weight loss for ANY person is about 1-2 years of ongoing controlled eating combined with exercise. In other words, no matter what your goal is, no matter how many pounds you have to lose, 12 or 200, your body will take approximately 1-2 years to achieve its personal goal. Usually its closer to the one year marker. I believe its part of our body's whole defense mechanism against starvation and malnutrition factors. This is only my own visual gatherings and not any cold hard facts. Obviously its not concrete, and others will lose faster and others will lose slower its just something Ive noticed that I find interesting.

                              10 lbs before= TOTAL 58 lbs!
