gosh...look at her...she's fat! Yep... that would be me!

My life story??? or just a quick intro??? I'll do a quickie...don't want to scare everyone!

I'm 29...almost 30 (((holy sheep!))) Been married to my fatty Husband for 4 years now, and we are both overweight. Me, I'm 5ft tall and weigh about 230lbs. I also suffer from PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) wich doesn't help my carb control. We both want to lose weight, and have looked at all our options, and the atkins seems to be the way to go! I hope to find some encouragement and advice here...as well as some been there done thats, so I don't feel like a complete failure if I screw up.

I have a warped sense of humor, and I'd rather laugh than cry....

There you go...me, in a nutshell. (If they made one big enough for a 5ft hippo)

              Re: The new kid...

              Hey

Firstly, let me say if I can do it you can do it. I have been overweight since early 1990's . I used to binge eat as it was a way to feel better. I can honestly say I was(am) addicted to food. As time went on in life with my wife and kids, I realized what a disgusting blob I was and how embarrasing it must be for them to be in public with me. Ten my health went down hill with extremely high blood pressure and sky high cholesterol. I was a ticking time bomb. I did not want to leave my wife a widower and my two boys fatherless. The time had come to do something about it and I wasn;t talking myself out of it this time. Its taken alot of strength and courage to battle through this. you need to be strong and go speed a head.
Count your carbs, do not go over 20 g net a day. Do not cheat at all. Eggs are your friends, so is bacon.
I do have a bit of a menu plan to help you out. Leave me your email address and I will send you it.

You can do this and so can your husband as I have missed out the most important part. Spouses need to support each other in this. Do not give in to your cravings, if you do, you are not going to succeed.

I was the "new fat girl" for ages. Now I'm the new hot girl. YOU CAN DO THIS. All it takes is determination. Willpower has to be kept at the front of your mind at all times. You will be a different person when it's all over with, well, I know I am. I'm so much nicer to people now, I enjoy life when I previously dreaded leaving the house. It's gonna be GREAT!

I saw your post this morning and want to say welcome to our group. Im a newbie also. After I read your post, I created a thread under the Induction section, just kind of going thru each day so far (1-5). I also listed some sites I use daily that just make doing this way of life easier, especially for those of us who feel lost learning all this new stuff. Also, if you go to tickerfactory.com, you can create your own ticker that will track your progress. Have your husband create a name here also, so that his can be posted. He may at some time have issues different from yours and need different advice. Get that tape measure and get those measurements down. I use Fittogether.com for this but you can write them down if you dont want to post them there. Will be looking for your progress. Congrats to you and your husband for a choice well made.

I love this first post McFatty. Trust me, we've all been there and done that and yet no one is a failure. You've made the committment to be here and eat this way so now you just gotta go for it. Join some challenges, start a journal, read everything you can. In time, eating this way will become second nature and you will be healthier as well. Mr. McFatty won't even know you're cooking low carb!

Here's a site lots of use for great recipes and remarkable things to do with cauliflower!
