  • YAY! Ketostix finally positive!

I started Induction Tuesday the 13th and this morning I finally got the ketosis test strip to turn purple! I am so happy I was able to get some positive feedback - I was impatient to know I was doing it correctly.

So, to introduce myself: I am 35 and I have 35 lbs to lose. Coincidence? Perhaps. I have an 11-month-old daughter, but she is not where this extra weight came from. I have been plump and doughy for most of my adult life. My highest weight in my life was 190, but that was years ago. I have for the most part hovered around 160, which is I think where my body likes to be. But I DON'T LIKE IT.

I weighed 135 when I met my husband 5 years ago, and I want to go back there. We are going to Hawaii in March 2008, so I only have a few months. I don't expect to be done with my weight loss by then (need to have realistic goals), but I would like to enjoy myself (ie: wear a bathing suit without a mu-mu over it).

Induction is going well so far, but I will need to check out this site for some Induction-friendly recipes to keep me going. I eat one of those mock danishes almost every morning - not bad at all.

That's about it so far. I enjoy reading all the posts on here and find it very motivational. Thanks to all you fearless people for posting. Most of my questions someone else has already asked, that's why I haven't posted much yet. And the book certainly helps too!

I'll keep you all informed on my progress.

Welcome! Good for you for taking things in hand while you are young and not too overweight. I believe you will be at goal or very near when you go to Hawaii next spring.

    Sunny!
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Christy, welcome to the board! It sure won't take you 35 more years to lose those 35! Looks like you're on the right track. Keep up the good work!

WOW! Thanks Sallyseachange for the link to that site with all the recipes on it! I am amazed that you can make almost anything low carb. I am feeling a little overwhelmed, however, at the thought that I am going to literally have to re-learn how to cook. Well, baby steps, I guess. Maybe I'll try a couple new recipes a week and add them to my meager collection if I like them. But wow - really - that lady did a lot of work on that site. I have already forgotten her name, but I did read her bio and she is such an inspiration.

Thanks again. I hope you see this post!

This is where a group of us who started induction last week have decided to meet up to monitor our progress together. Come on over and say 'Hi'.
