  • Yep, I'm startin' again!!

    Good afternoon!

Yes, I have decided to get back off the wagon after falling off and having the wagon run me over!!

In 2001, I lost 73 pounds in 7 months. So I know this life style works. I "cheated" on a meal, then that became a day, then it was a weeks, then months, and now I realize that it has been years. I "found" all the weight, plus some more in the meantime.

I am at my heaviest that I have ever been in my life and soooo ready to change it. I am married to my hubby (16 years on 12-27 - Woo Hoo) and we have 5 kiddos ranging in ages from almost 15 - 19 months. We have a pretty active lifestyle ~ ok, the kids do, I usually sit in the car for hours, driving them everywhere. Four of our children play soccer, so it get quite hectic.

I was gonna wait until the first of the year...but I can't. I went to the gym last night and walked 1.43 miles and felt alive ~ for the first time in a long time.

But first, some questions, can I expect to lose a good amount of weight again? Does 90 pounds seem unreasonable in 7-8 months? Last time I didn't exercise, this time I am....

Please let me know what you think....I am ready to do this.....
    Michele

    Hi Michele, Welcome to ADBB!

Everyones mileage varies so i cant say for sure that you can do that, maybe, maybe not!

everyone loses slower on the second time around, theres a forum here called "Second time around club" as some people come across difficulties on their 2nd, 3rd of 4th time around.

Good job on the exercise, atkins without exercise isnt really atkins, that will be sure to speed things up.

Good luck on your journey! post often, this board is a wealth of information!

Just approach it like this is the very first time and that you WILL lose the weight just as fast. Your mind-set has a lot to do with it. I was several years older and many pounds heavier and I lost more and quicker the second time around. Even if you don't--how much would you weigh in 7 - 8 months if you didn't try at all??? Even if you only lose 20 pounds in 7 months, it's better than staying the same or gaining. You sure need the energy from Atkins to keep up with 5 kidlets! You can do it! I know you can!

        Sunny!

Hey Michele! I remember you! I'm so glad to see you back on the Atkins wagon with us. Good for you for starting today rather than waiting till the end of the year!

You just do everything correctly, do your exercise and eat properly and you should have success again. Besides that, come around the board often to let us know how you're doing.

            Hey Michelle,

Come join us STACers in the "Second Time Around Club" - it's a great group of people working through this WOL for the 2nd, 3rd or more times... just like you! Besides... we need a few more West Coasters (time zone thingy) on the board !

I started at around 228/230 (didn't check) and now, 2 weeks in, I've dropped to 219 - that's a good 10 pounds! But I'm not putting a time limit on things... I plan on working at this WOL forever, up the rungs until I'm in maintenance... and I don't care how long it takes or what my end weight will be!! Well, okay, I'd like to be a 150 or less but I'm taking it in small steps so that I can maintain this way of eating and not fall off again (this is my 3rd go around... each time I had great success [half-way to goal] and then just started eating white stuff [and gaining]!). It would be great for you to lose your weight quickly, but then you may find that you haven't really explored the rungs to learn what you can eat without gaining. Then... next thing you know you're on induction again.

Hope to see you posting with all us STACers!

                  Hey again, Michele,

Go to "Forums" in the bar above... then scroll down to "Miscelaneous Forums". You'll find the "Challenges Forum" there. There are likely other places to find challenges... just browse through the forums.

You'll also find the Second Time Around Club this way... just scroll down to "Atkins for Support" and you'll find us there.

                  Happy browsing!

A lot of the challenges are winding down, but getting ready for next month and next year. One you should join is the "How long can you go???" cheat-free challenge. You just check in each day and we encourage everyone to stay cheat free. That one has been running for several years, and Jimmy48 has suggested that it be closed out and a fresh new one started for the New Year, so that will happen. Here's a link--just jump in and start posting with how many days cheat free! http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...524#post814524
