Hello,
Well, I'm so thankful I found this site - just what I need to get me going and keep me motivated. There are so many successful people here...
I'm a 40 yr. old mother of 4 children (aged 9 yrs, 8 yrs, 2.5 yrs. & 1 yr.). I'm also in my final year of medical school - year 6 of a 6 year program. I also work part-time as an adjunct prof. I'm Canadian although we are currently live in Slovakia in Central Europe. This year I must graduate from medical school and re-write all of my medical licensing exams to be able to practise in the States.
It has been a long and stressful haul over here and I'm getting so excited to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Still, my days are lived in a shadow cast by my weight (currently 214) and I need to resolve this issue that causes me so much stress and mental anguish on a daily basis - it's hard to understand how much my weight brings me down unless you too, have been in that boat.
Lately I've tried to start induction but end each day with toast wt honey and peanut butter... I find that once I can get past the first 3 days I'm good to go, but I think I'm ready this time.
I've done Atkins before - about 2.5 years ago until I found out I was pregnant with my 3rd child. I got down to 170 and was starting to feel great, but I just couldn't get enough solid information to keep going on the diet while I was pregnant. Anyhow, I'm done with kids and have no excuses. I also think this term I will have a bit more time to work in exercise which is a key component.
I'm doing a few things differently this time:
1. exercise
2. a clean (I love that expression) induction
3. i've printed out the induction foods list
4. joined this site for encouragement and accountability
5. AND I've resolved to weigh myself only every other week (I find that a negative reading affects my willpower and brings me down - I hope this time period is enough to see a downwards trend)
So, that's it. I've organized my ticker and some mini-goals. I also dragged out an old pair of track pants and some brand new nikes (bought about 2 years ago with good intentions) and a new sports bra (also bought but never used).
My day tommorrow will be surgery starting at 7.30 then when I'm done I will hit the gym and then the library. Wish me luck!
