In 1999 I moved to another state, got married and divorced for the second time and also piled on 100 lbs.! Last February I returned the Chicago area and NOW (a year later) I have gotten over my personal pity party.
When I first returned last year I went to a party. There were people attending that had not seen me since I left in 1999. I know many were shocked by my weight gain and I knew it was inevitable that someone would make a comment. Boy was I right! This guy I knew years ago said, "You used to be hot. What happened?" No offense to the guys on this board, but leave it to a guy to be brutally honest! That still wasn't enough for me to get me off my butt and do something. All of 2007 I stayed hidden in my new house. I never even went to the local grocery store for fear that someone from the past would recognize me! I didn't attend any local events for the same reason but it still wasn't enough to motivate me even though I am a very social person.
I gave some half-hearted attempts at dieting but it didn't last one than a day. I was a person who exercized EVERYDAY when I was thin. Not obessively, but 45 minutes rain or shine, plus some weight lifting. That too went out the window when I moved away. My spirit was crushed and I thought I am doomed to have a heart attack or diabetes II in due time.
I had been on Atkins back in the early 1990's when I lost about 25 pounds. I didn't do the lifestyle change and quickly gained it all back, but still was 170 lbs when I left in 1999. So I thought I will give Atkins another try.
I started induction on March 5, 2008. A year to the day I started a new job with my federal agency. I am motivated. Don't know how or why. I just AM!
My dog is very grateful that I am walking again too!
I am happy to have found this bulletin board and have been reading all the wonderfully inspirational messages. Thank you for allowing me to join your community. God Bless the Atkins Diet and all the loyal supporters.

I feel elated that I have lost 15 lbs!
I have the pre-menopause hormone belly and I am thrilled to see you all recommend drybrushing for the skin. I am SO concerned about my stomach just hanging like a sack and chin too, so I started the brushing last night.
Thank you for reading.
