  • Day 4 and Feeling Better

    Hi All!

Well I made it to day four and I'm starting to feel better...no headache, woke a little tired, but had my Atkin's breakfast and feel much better....have energy. I feel lighter...notice a little difference in my clothes, but I promised myself that I will wait until Friday (1 week) before weighing myself. My husband started Saturday and he weighs daily and he is down 3 pounds.

Thanks all for the encouragement and I will be in touch.

    Rose

            Hi Rose,

You haven't posted in this thread for a bit ... hope you are still hanging in there and your husband is too - men usually have more immediate success (albeit not always more sustaining!) so I'm hoping you can show him up a bit!

            Best of luck to you,

Re: Day 4 and Feeling Better

                Hi Wendy:

I'm on day 8 now and cruising right along. I have loss a total of 6.5 pounds and feels so great about it! I hope to lose 4 to 5 pounds by the end of the induction period. I have been exercising for a few days now and that helps. The first 3 days, I was totally zapped due to the sugar withdrawl, but i do feel wonderful now and am so encouraged.

Now my husband cheated mid week, there was a luncheon at our office and he ate alot, I waited until I got home and ate my shrimp salad with avocado and water. He just went off the diet that day and fruit, soft drink, etc. The next morning he put on 2 pounds. He wasn't surprised, and now he is back on the band wagon.

I'm working too hard to cheat...My son is a freshman in college and while he stays on campus in Chicago (30 miles from home), he comes home on the weekend so I may have the privledge to do his laundry, lol. There is a Dominick's store that has the best White Chocolate Macadamina nuts cookies that are to die for....he brought me 4 as he normally does on the weekend. After he told me that he bought me cookies, he recalled that I was on a diet and apologized. I appreciated the gesture and politely put them in the freezer. They are for a treat somewhere in the future. I have 14 to 18 pounds to go and I am focused.
Well I'm off to the treadmill now.....

                Best Wishes to all,
                Rose

Kids can actually be your best advocates. Mine is always asking me "Can you have this? Is this on your diet?" She is so proud of me and always helps me when she can.

When you get to that day for the cookies, I actually hope you hate how they taste and kinda hope they make you a little sick! LOL, that sounds so mean, doesn't it? When I took a bite of that popcorn yesterday, I just knew if I ate it all, not only would I fail myself but I knew that it would make me sick at my stomach.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. And yes wouldn't it be nice, to stop liking the foods that got us to the point of having to diet. I do love the white chocolate cookies, but i have no desire now for them.

I have a question, please help. My husband makes the best fried cabbage with a few strips of bacon and some onion. The bacon and the bacon drippings in what he uses for the seasoning with maybe a little salt and some pepper. Is that okay to eat in moderation? It taste so good, but it would feel like Im cheating. I hesitate on some foods because I can't be certain of the combination of ingredients and count of carbs, fat, etc.

                            Thanks

If all the ingredients are induction friendly, you can have it. Be sure and measure it. I am sure it is mostly cabbage. You will have to guestimate the amount of onions and bacon in it when you put it in fitday.
