    Vodka martini with olives:
Calories in a Vodka Martini using 3 fluid ounces of vodka, splash of dry vermouth and a green olive - About 210 calories and less than one carb gram.
To drop the fractional carb, drop the vermouth, and then it's rocket fuel though.
Either way, basically zero carbs and zero hangover if you are able to avoid mixing it with Ultra beer that night. Don't want to drink and feel like it, have a few olives as a snack. I had Ultra at a music fest a few weeks ago. I find the Ultra can be a slippery slope...if one how 'bout several - with friends drinking, and at a couple carbs each there goes the carb budget, or heck why not a Guinness others are having??
Having said all that, by the book is best.
    I'm headed to the gym.
    Glenn

I'm the guy in my crowd who can't drink martinis and hates cigars.

If I had a clue what to mix with rum or vodka that was not carby, I'd be all over it, but I can't drink them straight. How about a Meatini? Did I just invent that?

So I just had dinner -- ribeye steak, lettuce and cucumber salad with balsalmic viagrette, glass of pinot grigio (Santa Margarita, Italy, very nice.

    How does that grade?

Low carb beer: great for low carb dieters, crap for beer (IMHO).

back from the gym and aha:
        - Great dinner menu keep it up. I've been thinking of a steak. Might get a porterhouse with mushrooms for a goal achievement reward.
-I am by no means a big drinker, maybe once a month a couple with friends, but I do know that rum mixes well with many things including more rum as they said on Pirates.
        - The olives and vermouth are the mixer with the vodka. BTW pepper smokey bacon is the porterhouse of breakfast foods and now that I think of it, that bacon (crispy) might go well in a rum or martini. Eric likes cukes and peppers as do I and those would also make interesting drinks. Hey, you put celery in a bloody mary....
        - I don't smoke. Growing up everyone - and I am pretty sure even the dog and the cat and some of the fish - smoked ... and it never appealed to me.
        - On the salad dressing, blue cheese. It is high in fat (good, which is counter-intuitive until reading the book) and near zero carbs (better) plus satisfying (best). Drizzle or use a spoon as pouring it on has been halted per the plan.
        - Giants? Do the words "wide right" recall anything...on that note....
Keep up the good work-you'll soon be reaching your goal including restful sleep.
