Hello Everybody my name is Yveline Small. I started the Atkins diet 8 days ago and lost 7lbs but im feeling light headed. I think i might not be taken enough calories in. I eat 2 eggs omelet in the morning and an atkin shake in the afternoon around 1:30 and for dinner around 7:30 i'll have a salad withougt any dressing. i think i might need vitamins but im not sure on which one to take Has anybody have those symptoms before and what did you do. I'll apreciate any response that you guys.

You are definitely not eating enough food. Have you read the book? You need to find your Basal Metabolic rate and eat at least that many calories a day. Here is a good BMR calculator. You should eat on induction 5% of calories from carbohydrate(veggies from the allowed list and carbs from cream, 25% from protein(chicken, beef, pork and fish) and 70% from fat(animal fats, olive oil, coconut oil, butter and cream). Create a free account at www.fitday.com
and you can plug in the food you eat and it will figure your ratios and calories for you.

definitely not enough food. That measly salad for supper? You could have a big juicy steak with it or a ground beef burger.. I just finished a burger topped with mayo and a few pickles. And dressing on your salad too! And some steamed broccoli! with butter!

If I teased my body with a shake for lunch and a salad for dinner, it would find a way to get me back too!

Please, please, do eat more, and do read the book. Your menu is so far from the book sample menus, we can tell you haven't had a chance to do that yet. This is a revolutionary eating plan, but it has to be done correctly. Wishing you much success!

You should also eat more often. A small meal every 3 or 4 hours will keep your blood sugar level on an even keel so you don't get cravings for comfort foods. Good luck!

                  Hello everybody

I have to say that iam very dissappointed because i've been on the atkins for 9 days only 6lbs down. Ive hit the plateau stage already. I cant seem to lose anymore weight. My eating is good i've been eating protein with vegies and sometimes when im in a hurry without vegies. (cabbage, salad,). I donk know what else to do, if there's anybody out here that can help me please help. I think im so close to giving up.

                    Re: Dizzyness

I know you said you were getting ahold of the book. How much have you read? Do you understand that we get 65 percent of our calories from fat in the first phase? Meaning we eat butter, cream, cheeses, oil based dressings, cream cheese, sausage, bacon avocados, some of us even drink coconut oil straight from a spoon to get the right fat proportion! (And the coconut oil chuggers report excellent energy levels, I might add!)

To do Atkins, you have to convert your metabolism to a fat burning engine. To do that you have to eat fat. The weight you have lost so far is likely from calorie restriction. Do Atkins, and you will start burning body fat!

                        Hi Chefsmall,
I've experienced dizziness before while on Atkins and what worked for me was taking a multivitamin supplement. Hope the dizziness passes...

                            Hello everybody
when i recieved the atkins book i was excited read the whole book and started the atkins all over again. I was on it for 2 weeks before but did not get any results much, but since then i've lost 7lbs in 9 dys but got stuck again not loosing any. The only solution i can think of is getting my period. I know we retain water during our period but im wondering will that cause me to gain 1.5 lbs. I've been during everything right drink 96oz of water each day excersise by walking my dogs and sometime walk on the treadmill. I eat plenty of protein and fat and keep the carb to less than 20 gram i think. Anyway im really puzzle about this if there;s any body that can help me outhere please help. Im alittle depress right now. i was so tempted to have a twinkie my husband bought (very very very bad man) he have no weight problem. but i did not have any instead went for a walk with hubbie. Please help me somebody

Most people do have a period of no loss after the first 2 weeks of induction. It is thought to be a period of your body adjusting. Be patient, keep on plan and it will start to come off again.
