  • Hello :)

    Hello!

I'm Leo, nice to meet you all. I just officially started the Atkins diet today, had bacon and eggs for breakfast. I'm thinking lettuce w/ a bit of shredded colby-jack cheese for lunch and perhaps throw a chicken breast or steak on the george foreman for dinner.

I will also be putting together my exercise bike today. I work at FedEx and get a decent workout there during the day, but I'll use the bike a bit in the morning and evening to add some more activity.

I'm still learning a good bit about Aktins, but I think I got the basics down. Induction... restriction to 20 carbs or less for 2 weeks (or longer). More or less limited to meats, cheese and greens. After induction add 5 carbs per week untill you find your sweet spot. I read the average carbs per day people eventually level out at is 40 - 50 carbs per day?

Anyways, I'm going to be full of questions I'm sure.

A little more about me... I'm a 23 year old guy and weigh 209 pounds at the moment. I want to get down to 185 pounds, and perhaps even lower depending on how I look and feel.
I live in Memphis, and I live alone with my two cats. Not much to say really, I'm a pretty boring guy.

    Re: Hello

The 'level out' number, or critical carb level for losing CCLL, varies depending on activity level, gender, men tend to have a higher one, and exercising brings it higher. The good thing to know is, do the program right and at the end, you will know what you can eat, including high fiber breads and cereals, and still keep a healthy weight and clear mind. Something to look forward to. You might find you have a CCLL of 90, being young and active.

Fed Ex.. cute guys in brown shorts. Love them... (That is Fed Ex, right? not UPS?)

One thing to also keep in mind, it is best to spread carbs throughout the day if possible. So adding something like mushrooms in the morning in a omelet, and maybe broccoli with your dinner steak, that is the ideal plan. Not just veggies in one meal if at all possible. It maxes your feelings of well being to spread them out.

    Much success to you!

Hi, Leo and welcome! I'm sure you're not boring at all Do you have the Atkins book, 2002 edition? That's the "bible" used here ... I refer to mine constantly; very handy. Make sure to check in here frequently ... the info available and the built-in support system are invaluable! You FedEx folks spend a lot of time jumping in and out of those trucks ... great exercise! Anyway ... welcome again. The moderators here are fantastic, and plenty of friendly folks here to encourage you

I don't have Atkins book, 2002 edition. I'll probably end up ordering it off Amazon though.

I have the Aktins Basic Diet Manual, it's kind of like a pamphlet. It's very handy and I refer to it a lot.
