  • Hello Everyone!



    I have been lurking here for a month now, gathering information, inspiration and just a grasp of the overall community and I must say I am so impressed and encouraged!

    I finally decided to join in on the board and share my story as it progresses!

    I started this wonderful lifestyle Dec. 16th 2008 and I have to say as hard as I imagined leaving my sweet and pasta tooth behind it really hasn't been too bad! I even made it through Christmas time with dozens of cookies being baked and served! That alone let me know I really do have all the motive I need to get healthy.

    Jan 6th makes 3 full weeks for me however the pesky monthly visitor has struck so I won't be weighing until next week for my updated progress!

    I feel the need to say yet again that this diet is amazing! I feel like I am getting spoiled honestly! I had tried the 6 week body makeover 2 years ago and though I was able to stick to it for around 8 weeks it was the most miserable thing I have ever experienced, I hated eating food with zero flavor and it was so awful that at times I would just prefer to go to bed without dinner. Well never again!

    I look forward to sharing this journey with everyone!

    Welcome!!! I'm Carole. Like you I lurked a few days before I made the decision to join in. The people here are beyond amazing when it comes to encouragement and friendship. Anything you need you can ask and someone will step up for you! I've never seen this type of camaradrie anywhere else on the web.

    Have you noticed how Weight Watcher, Jenny Craig, etc come out with "new" diets each year....that's because they know they don't work so they keep messing with their eating plan. Dr. Atkins got it right the 1st time! If you haven' read the book yet, do so -- I just finished it yesterday but had a good handle on the basics from reading and looking for answers before I started.

      Thank you for the warm welcome! I do have the book and I am reading it steadily!

      I neglected some general details in my post: I am 24 years old, unmarried and no kiddos.

            Thank you so much! Alright, I will be posting my progress pics next week once I take them but for now this is what I have to work with. I really had to dig for these pictures because I tend to delete ones that aren't flattering immediately! These are my before face and body shots. I didn't have any full body ones in regular clothes! This is from halloween last year. I am usually photogenic..but alas these are terrible.

              Hey Newfoundme.... I just joined the boards too and like you started Atkins before Christmas (although must have less will power than you as I fell off the wagon over Christmas and am now redoing my induction!) I am so pleased with the results so far... I know we can do this!!

                        Hey again....

                        Well, I don't own any scales but I had a baby in May last year and after that weighed in at 12 and half stone (175lb I think?) I am only 5ft 2in tall and have always weighed between 9 and half and ten and a half (133-147lbs) so ideally I would like to get back to that... I have lost 6 inches off my waist already and 4 off my hips but would REAAAAALLLLLY like my thighs to slim down as they are very much of the THUNDER variety right now ...

                        I just know I'll get there if I stick to this!

                          Sounds like you're doing really, really well!! Excellent!

                          Do you know what else is great? You're in one-derland! Breaking below the 200 mark is such a fantastic feeling. I can't wait to be there (again - and for the final time!) with you!! But don't wait for me, though... just keep losing and losing, New!!

                            It felt sooo awesome hitting onederland!
                            I know it wasn't that much to lose to hit it but having a 1 in front of my weight is just one of those things I think all of us who have ever had 2's, 3's and so on in front of can understand. It's almost like hitting normalcy if you know what I mean. I am really excited to weigh in tuesday with hopes that the TOM bloat will be whooshed right out of the ballpark, lol!
