Re: Day 2 and I feel so ill...
This will pass... I swear. Think of it as a cleansing, de-tox, or just a time to re-program, and let your body re-arrange it's fuel burning modality, and withdraw from craving. I'm in re-induction now, as I got loosey-goosey over the holidays. It does feel weird at first, but for me, after the 4/5th day, it gets better, and you start feeling good. See if you can stay with it, give it a chance, and see what you think in two weeks!Best Regards ~Kellen

Welcome Longing to Lose.
If your nic is representative... hang in there! You'll get through the horrid "induction flu" (your body weaning itself off the carb overload) and begin to feel really good. It usually lasts a few days only.
Many of us have been through the exact same withdrawal. You can do it!Before and after:

PLEDGING FLIGHTS
Completed: 1st set of buildings and mountains (Everest,M.Blanc & Kilimanjaro, twice); Tower Masts & Chimneys; More virtual buildings; Challenger's Choice x 2 (volcanos and mountains on Mars). Currently climbing: Mount Snowdon again: 416/475
Start 10 Jan 2005. Maintenance since Aug. 2005.

Re: Day 2 and I feel so ill...
BECAUSE you are feeling so ill is the reason that this is the right plan for you. When someone starting out on the Atkins journey is feeling very ill is the only time someone will be happy for you! Induction flu is proof that you have been bombarding your body with foods that are not healthful for you. As those toxins leave your body, you feel pretty ill. You probably have a yeast over-growth and when the little beasties start to die, they can make you really miserable.Originally posted by longing-to-lose View PostIt's day 2 and I feel so ill today I'm not sure if this is the plan for me!!
Just hang in there. It will be over before you know it and you will feel better than ever, with lots of energy.People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Re: Day 2 and I feel so ill...
Okay I have stuck with it although not exaclty... I have had to cut back the caffeine gradually and I do feel better just not quite 100%. I've been on for 4 days and haven't lost any weight... I read some more and I'm wondering if I should be eating more calories. I would think just stopping the 6 pops a day (although I have had 1 to help with headaches) would make atleast ONE pound disappear!! This worked for me before so I'm trying really hard to stay confident but need some encouragement to get through the weekend!!

Longing is not going to be enough. Got to work it. Cutting back on caffeine is great. You could try posting a menu in the menu forum and we can see if you are on right track.

For breakfast today:
4 slices of bacon and tossed green salad with cheese and green onions, and water 2 cups
Snack: Water with Emergen-C 2 Cups
At lunch:
Ground beef with green peppers in it, I actually added it to some chicken broth and made a soup out of it. Water 2 cups
Cheat: 1 can pepsi (eventually I will break free but it is down from 6 cans a day!!)
Snack: Water with Emergen-C 2 cups
Dinner: 4 slices ham, 2 slices of cheese, water 2 cups
And I tried making the recipe I found for flax chips but they didn't cook right!! lol So a couple of bites of flax

Is your Pepsi diet? If not there is more carbs in a can on pepsi then you are allowed in one day, maybe even two days.

Re: Day 2 and I feel so ill...
You cannot drink that much sugar and thinking the diet will work. You have to get with the programme. Do your self a favour and read (or re read) the book. It is a great source and great encouragement can be found in it.
Here are some stickies to check our in the mean time
We are supposed to drink at least 64 oz of clean pure water.
Are you taking your supplements? Look for sugar free ones.
You can do it. Just need to change a few things. Sugar is absolutely not allowed so read labels carefully. Also it looks like you are not eating your 3 cups of vegetables.
I'm rooting for you!!Last edited by liv; January 17, 2009, 06:52 AM.

Re: Day 2 and I feel so ill...
You are not doing Atkins at all. Your Emergen-C has 6 grams of carbs and 5 grams of sugars times two. The ingredients include fructose (sugar), tapioca (thickening starch) and fruit powder. Just from the Emergen-C you took in 12 grams of carbs and 10 grams of sugars from sources not permitted on Induction.Originally posted by longing-to-lose View PostFor breakfast today:

Your can of Pepsi has 42 grams of carbs and 42 grams of sugars.
Not even counting your healthy carbs in veggies and cheese (caveat: if those cheese slices are American--they are not legal, either. Only hard cheese allowed on Induction), you took in 54 grams of carbs in beverages with no nutrition you can't get from a vitamin.
When you begin to do Atkins by the rules, you will lose weight. You can't expect to eat the extra fat and protein you are allowed to eat on Atkins, but still eat the sugars and carbs like you did before.
I do think you should be eating more calories, but they must come from eating more fat, protein and legal veggies.
You also need to drink more water.

I am confised here. I am on induction but I didn't know sliced american cheese was not allowed?
I thought when you took a slice of the american sandwich cheese and made the cheese crackers out of it, it was induction friendly?

Re: Day 2 and I feel so ill...
Here's why it is not allowed on induction (from Wikipedia):
American cheese is a common processed cheese. It is orange, yellow, or white in color and mild in flavor, with a medium-firm consistency, and melts easily. It has traditionally been made from a blend of cheeses, most often Colby and Cheddar. Today’s American cheese is generally no longer made from a blend of all-natural cheeses, but instead is a processed cheese (i.e., it is manufactured from a set of ingredients[1] such as milk, whey, milkfat, milk protein concentrate, whey protein concentrate, salt) which meets the legal definition of cheese."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."
