  • Another Intro

    Hi everyone!
So I thought i'd introduce myself as this is my first post..
I am 16 years old and 30+ pounds overweight. Currently I am 150 pounds at 5'3. My doctor advises me that for my age, gender, bone structure, ect.. 115 pound would be ideal. This of course, that extra 30 is at the end of a very long story. So, the short version is about 2 years ago I suffered from anorexia and dropped almost 25 in a little under a month. After that I tried self-recovery and ended up binging like crazy..which led to bulimia blah blah the usual story. Anyways my metabolism was shot to h**l and I ended up gaining to the point I was 10 pounds heavier than when I started. And to top it off I suffer with reoccuring binging..I'm sure some of you have similar experiences! So thats how I ended up here..ready to start the induction phase in a few hours! I just hope I can control my binging...

    See you around!

    Welcome to the board!

30 lbs is not an enormous amount of weight and you are also young, so I'm sure you'll look fantastic in bikini this summer! Did you read the book (DANDR 2002)? It will help you understand how this way of eating works and why it is not a diet, but a lifelong eating plan. The first 4-5 days are pretty rough -- you might experience the so-called "induction flu" (I didn't, but it's a matter of luck) and you will be tempted by junk food or sweets. But after these first days, your appetite will be suppressed and you should feel great.

Beside eating according to the induction rules, you should also take a few supplements. To give you an idea, I take a multivitamin (without iron) and a B-complex. Also, unless you experience bad induction flu sympthoms (in which case you should add another cup of veggies per day), you should start exercising regularly. I'm not sure whether you do this now... I'm just making an inventory of the "should do" things.

As for the binging, are you on treatment for it? While Atkins controls one's appetite, it only goes as far as hunger is concerned. For other aspects, professional treatment will help a lot more.

Now some links... For induction, these are two important ones:

New exercise challenges are starting next week. You can read more and join here:

Thank you for the welcome Yes, milfit, I have a range given by my doctor that is between 105 (that seems low for me) and 125. I always told myself that I just had a big frame but I actually have a small one! Also, I have a weak heart resulting from my eating disorders, so ironically enough, I should be as lean as possible so as to not put any extra stress on my heart. So don't worry i'm sure 125 is a perfect number for you.
