    Day 2

Hello. I started my journey yesterday. I will be using this site for support and tips. I like to graze, love pizza and hate to drink water and eat vegetables and salad. I don't have much self discipline. I love to exercise but injure myself every time I start (tore achilles tendon two years ago and sever plantars fascitis which was corrected with lithotripsy) So, I have to use moderation and caution due to poor foot strike and extra weight. I would love to have a female buddy who started near my weight and has had much success. Wish me much luck and endurance!

Hopefully by doing Atkins correctly you'll soon learn to love drinking H20 & eating veggies as they are both a key part to this way of eating.

Explore the site & you'll find a wealth of knowledge & support. Start a journal to keep track of your journey & your thoughts. Join an exercise challenge or two.

            Good luck on your journey!

Welcome, Tracey! When you start seeing the pounds drop off, it will probably make you so happy that you'll want it to continue. So don't worry about the self-discipline right now. Just do what you are supposed to do one day at a time....

And best of luck on your journey!

I haven't figured out how to reply to just one person. Sue,
First two days: excited about getting started, went shopping for some atkin acceptable food for induction.
Third day: exhausted and crabby. Crabby is not in my nature. Couldn't stand myself. Great food choices though. Very purple Ketostix.
4th day: Energy is back and not crabby. No exercise since day one. Have been parking far and taking steps at work. Breakfast great. Lunch, no so well. Fixed me a salad and couldn't get myself to eat it. Took three bites, ate some cottage cheese and two mozzarella sticks. Snacked on pork rinds. Supper: a little bit of steak. Not enough veggies and very little intake. Ketostix - purple but lighter in color
5th Day:TOday!! Will do better with eating more atkins induction foods.

No Cheats and drinking my water. I found I prefer room temperature water and have been getting 40-64 oz a day.

OUCH! Lost my journal at work. Have to find it.

You should eat more calories or your body will get into starvation mode and cling to every pound. Make sure approximately 65% of your calories come from fat, 5% from carbs and 30% from protein, and that you are eating 3 cups of veggies per day. Most of your carbs should come from veggies.

Cottage cheese is not allowed during induction -- it is a fresh cheese, so it's part of OWL Rung 2.

You should drink *at least* 64 oz of water per day. The more you weigh, the more this amount increases. Dark-colored sticks are often a sign of dehydration.

Re: Weight Loss Journey Began 2/28/09

Laura, I would love to have a buddy to help me through this. I began last Saturday at 255lbs, decided to wait till this Saturday to weigh. One week later....down to 245! Yeah! I'm going to promise myself not to step on the scale again until next Saturday.

I've been doing my ketostix (pink/light purple all week) and drinking all of my water. I've realized the key for me is to drink room temperature water. I don't like really cold water. One member thought my sticks were dark cause I was dehydrated. So, I upped my water and I'm still pink/light purple.

I ate as clean as I could all week. Splurged twice on a little bit of cottage cheese and the board members dinged me on it.

I really hate the veggies but am cooking sauted mushrooms and eating cucumbers and peppers raw. Salad very intermittant.

Main diet: beef kabobs, chicken with provolone cheese, eggs and bacon.

Exercise: Minimal but better than my usual routine. Walked 2 x this week for 30 or more minutes. Parking farther and using stairs at work.

So, how are you doing? Are we going to use this thread to connect? Is there another way to connect on this site, like a buddy thread?

                        Good morning Tracey,

Thanx for being my weight loss buddy! Im not sure how we stay connected. We can always stay in touch through this thread I suppose.

So...you lost 10 pounds. WAY TO GO!!!! What a wonderful start. I just restarted yesterday morning. I made it 1 whole day with out cheating. Im very proud of myself because it was very tempting to cheat. Im a nurse. Last night I worked the night shift. The girls had decided to bring snacks into work. Chips, dip, tim hortons donuts, and so on. I was very tempted to give in but I managed to stay strong and eat the Atkins friendly lunch I had packed for myself.

My start weight is 230 pounds. I would like to lose 70 pounds. Im the same as you. Not really a big veggie eater. I do how ever love cucumbers and mushrooms. Last night I cut up some pork and fried it up with some mushrooms. I added garlic and montreal steak spice. It was actually very good.

Anyways, I have to work again tonight so I should head to bed. Have a great day!

                        Talk to you soon.
                        Laura.

I have a background of med/surg, Bone Marrow Transplant, Pheresis and now I pull PRN in the hospital and FT as a nurse recruiter. I'm not trying to recruit you. :0 Just looking for a weight loss buddy. Have a great day today. No cheats...

Hi Tracy! Just wanted to drop by and say hello to another fellow Missourian. I'm down south from you near Cape Girardeau but I have family that live in St Louis and St Charles.

Just so you know this way of life does get easier. Try to stay as clean as you can because it will help you in your cravings. I used to eat pizza 3 or 4 times a week until this way of life. Last night my hubby ate one of those little mini gas station pizzas while I was in the truck with him. It smelled good but I didn't want it. Plus the longer you go with out cheating it makes you want to keep going and I don't see myself wanting to go thru induction flu again anytime soon.

With your veggies, experiment, experiment, experiment! My favorite thing to eat on veggies is made by taking some oil, red wine or apple cider vinegar, a packet of splenda, and a dash of soy sauce. Shake it all up and drizzle over veggies, YUM! (I just make it to suit my taste each time) It is also good on pork chops and chicken.

I wish you well. You can do this!

                            45 days down - 24 days left!

                              Hi Tracey,

How's it going? I am still doing ok. I still seem to be craving potatoes and bread but have not gave in. Do you still crave anything? I still cant believe you have lost 10pnds in 1 short week. That is so great!!! I cant wait to start seeing some results. I think im going to do what you do and just try to weigh myself once a week.
This weekend I mainly ate cucumbers slices and meat kabobs. For a treat I had devilled eggs. I havent started an exercise program yet. I figured I get through the 1st week of induction then bring in the exercise.
Anyways, hope you had a good weekend.
                              Talk to you soon, Laura.
p.s. - Were going to do this!!!
