Hi, I recently, from about last year this time till about Christmas lost from 185 down to 155. Waist went from size 38 to 32. I am male, 5'7" and ... I used Atkins primarily. I have done this before as well. I seem to be repeating something that is bothering me though. I allowed myself alchohol and have gained back up to 165#. 155 seems like a very nice weight. I am not heavy at 165 either, but ultimately I think 148 would be optimal, but 155 was ok too.
Toward the end of my continual success, I did add in carbs and kept low portions. My fault lied in drinking which somehow kept me from keeping portions low. I had been doing a good job after losing weight using portions control but it takes stick tuitiveness to do that. I did like the idea of ordering a doublestack at wendies or doublecheeseburger at Macdonalds and NOT tearing the bunn off. And it was OK to do that if I had only ONE.
My diet consisted of bacon and eggs for breakfast. Peanuts throughout the day as snacks, and one doublecheeseburger or small chili for lunch. I then would eat whatever my wife was cooking but not eat too much of it. This worked, but then it started failing me.....
Also, I don't know if its mild depression or what, but I had stopped exercising. I had been lifting a little and doing chinups and dips. I was able to do 8 chinups. Now I can probably do four... so need to get back into lifting.
So now that I have gained ten lbs (even though my wife can't see it and I still wear the same size clothes) I want to stop the rise in weight and get back down to 155.
well today I have behaved as far as atkins goes having sausage, eggs, cream cheese peanuts and avocado. Now the trick will be avoiding overeating for dinner... then if I can continue like this, I should be ok.

And on that first time, I think the main reason I strayed from the Atkins path is because I hated veggies and never made myself break out of my box and try to incorporate them. I got the majority of my carbs from dairy and nuts. Sure, I was able to lose some weight... but I never made goal and wasn't able to maintain the loss that I did have. This time around, I followed the plan to the letter and tried tons of veggies. And what do you know... I found out the Atkins works better than "Mitzkins". Who'd have thought?
