  • Induction Starts Tomorrow!

Hi! I am new to the Atkins forum - and Atkins way of living, too! I have tried so many things to lose weight only to have no success. I am 181 lbs and my first goal is for 161 lbs. I am aiming to lose more but think that this time I should start with small goals. I am starting induction tomorrow - I posted my menu on "Review My Menu" - My biggest downfall is convenience foods - because I work, go to school, and a single mother - I tend to eat whatever is the easiest. I am just leaving for the grocery store and I am going to cook (or get the food ready to cook) my entire menu for this week. This way I will be less tempted to eat things that are not on the induction list. Any advice is welcome!

That's what I call setting yourself up for success!

Fix yourself an emergency snack box to take with you when you are going to be out for a while. Having something legal to eat when hunger strikes is a huge part of the battle!

This is great advice, Sunny! One thing about the Atkins plan... since it stresses whole foods, if you fail to plan, it is a plan to fail. I'm not a very good cook, and I don't really like cooking, so it was a BIG adjustment for me. But well worth it!

Hi MagsMom Glad you joined us. As for advice.....read the book...often!! and drink plenty of water. Have snack food handy.....mine was always pork rinds and dip, chicken wings, and cut up cauliflower. Find yourself some beef jerky that doesn't have sugar in it, or make up some of your own for when you have no access to refrigeration. Browse the forums here and join a challenge or two, and have a hobby handy for when you want to eat for the sake of eating.

Hey Magsmom -- you have a great plan ready. When I first started I always wrote down at night what I was going to eat the next day, that way I wasn't tempted. I did that for the first month...after that I knew what I could and couldn't eat and the temptation was gone by that time also.

Sunny had good advise about having emergency snacks...I learned the hard way when I had to take my mom to the ER one afternoon and was there way longer than expected. Now I have things in my purse that I can eat so I don't get caught again!

Good luck on your journey -- you have all the support you could possibly ask for here!
