  • Hi, Im new excited anxious and a bit scared!

    Hi everyone! Im on day 3 of phase 1 and am anxious for my first week weigh in. My friend talked me into trying this and she has lost 7lbs in 1 week!
    I sure hope to have successful results
    The eating part is pretty easy for me, I just need to stay away from my wine!
    Any tips would be greatly appreciated, also I worked out tonight for about an hour and realized how weak I feel...is that normal?

    Everyone loses differently so if you haven't lost like your friend don't be disappointed keep going.It took me 2 weeks induction to lose 7lb depends on person to person.
    You said you felt weak after an hour workout well did you use to workout before or just started to exercise with the diet?If you have just introduced exercise in your life you might have over done it start doing half an hour and see if that is ok with your energy levels.Keep water bottle by you as you exercise to keep you going.

      What is the part you find scary?
      About the exercise and weakness. At one point our bodies switch to ketone burning and as that is happening some of us feel a bit weak. We call this induction flue - it will pass in a day.
      Startdate: November 18, 2007. Female 5'2"

      May Challenges 2010
      Push-ups: 450/800
      Abs: 850/1900
      Squats: 650/1200
      Lunges: 500/1000
      Strength: 490/1200
      Running: 50/100 km

        I actually have been busting my rear in the gym for the last 2months and I thought I was eating healthy but had no results. I was desperate, so I started Atkins.
        I drink plenty of water and take a prenatal pills, B-12 sup, Cod Liver Oil, and L-Lysine supplements.
        The "scared" part is that I will dive into this like I had my exercise last 2months and nothing happens.
        Im sure tho it will, I just keep ready it over and over on here

          I see you are taking prenatal vitamins. If you are pregnant you shouldn't be doing Atkins Induction.

              also, how late in the evening should I stop eating? Not drinking wine has kept me up much later. I eat about 2 mozzerella string cheeses a day, that ok?

                you can eat 3 ounces of cheese daily - so 2 cheese sticks are within that limit -- some people have problems going to the bathroom or with loosing weight because of the cheese - just watch how you do and adjust accordingly.

                You can drink some decaf hot tea before bed so help settle you down so you can sleep - that's what I do and look forward to it every night. You can reintroduct wine back in on rung 5 but until you get there try tea.

                Because I'm diabetic I usually eat something within an hour of going to bed so help keep my blood sugars lower overnight...I think it depends on you as to how long in the evening you eat....I think a small snack size portion of something a couple hours before bed would be ok for you.

                Drink at least 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added) daily. Make sure you are eating only food on the acceptable food list. Sounds like you have the exercise and supplements going so that's good.

                  Thank you so much for sharing that info. Im a little confused on "rung 5"? I know there is 4phases...where in those phases are "rungs"?

                  I drink alot of water daily but am trying real hard to up my intake.

                  Also, feeling a little lightheaded normal at first?

                    Do you have the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution book? That will explain everything about the plan - the science behind this way of eating - the way the plan works and will answer so many questions along the way.


                    Once you finish induction you progress to OWL (ongoing weight loss). While on OWL there are "rungs" or steps to the program. Each week or couple of weeks you can choose to add back different foods -- each food type is a rung and you add back 5 net carbs each time you eat that new food -

                      Hi Sarah,
                      How is your induction going? I notice we have about the same amount of weight to lose, ive just finished induction and after 14 days im down 9lbs. Has your induction flu passed yet? mine lasted about 3-4 days, and now im in week 3 i feel great. I have my last meal at around 6pm and then just drink my sparkling water throughout the evening, my apetite has decreased alot since i started this WOL.
