    Just enough so that you are no longer hungry I usually do 3-5oz depending how hungry I am, and what else I am eating with it (less with eggs/chesse, more with green salad). I may have done a bit more than that during induction - I'm still struggling with portion sizes...

      There is a 3 to 4 ounce limit on aged cheeses, including cream cheese, so with your desserts, it sounds like you might be going over. Cream and cheese are known stallers to some people.

      You still didn't say how much weight you need to lose. If you need to lose over 100 pounds, you might lose 10 to 15 pounds in 14 days (but you might not), but if you need to lose 20 to 30 pounds total, you would only expect to lose 3 to 4 pounds during induction.
      People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

        Starting weight/current weight/ goal weight
        So I have 68 lbs to lose. Gosh that sounds awful!!

          Losing weight after forty is a rude awakening because it tends to be a lot more work to get a pound off your body and it seems to take twice as long as it used to to show on the scale.

          You have gotten some great advice from the folks who have already posted. One thing to keep in mind--it may take as long to take the weight off as it took to put it on. Patience is tough. We all want to see that scale move. Unfortunately the only thing we have control over is how well we stick to this WOE and how much we exercise. Your body sometimes has its own ideas about when it is ready to let go of the weight.

            for one thing you aren't drinking enough water. The crystal light has aspartame plus is mostly chemicals - below is from the book on drinking water:

            Drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day, including:
            Filtered water
            Mineral water
            Spring water
            Tap water

            After your 64 ounces you can have the following:
            Clear broth/bouillon (not all brands; read the label)
            Club soda
            Cream, heavy or light (limit to two to three Tablespoons a day; note carb content)
            Decaffeinated coffee or tea*
            Diet soda made with sucralose (Splenda); be sure to count the carbs (causes weight stall in many people)
            Essence-flavored seltzer (must say "no calories" and should not contain aspartame)
            Herb tea (without barley or any fruit sugar added)
            Lemon juice or lime juice (note that each contains 2.8 grams carbohydrate per ounce); limit to two to three Tablespoons
            *Excessive caffeine may cause unstable blood sugar and should be avoided by those who suspect they are caffeine dependent. Everyone should try to avoid caffeine.
            Grain beverages (coffee substitutes) are not allowed. Alcoholic beverages are also not permitted during Induction; those low in carbohydrates are an option, in moderation, in later phases

            Crystal Lite, sugar free teas, sodas, latte’s, smoothies - these are not acceptable – PURE water is the only thing that counts toward your daily water intake.

              Hang in there. It will be fine. Weight will come off.
              The ketosis (or fat burning) happens about 3-4 days after we start on average.

                Thank you all so very much for your help. I will just have to wait it out. I managed to drink 64 ozs. of pure water yesterday!! I also gained .5 lb!!!! I will continue with what I am doing and see. I will cut out desserts. It seems like there is almost nothing left for me to eat, but I have to stay positive. On the upside I really do feel a lot better than I have in a long time.

                        Try Linda's recipes - adding even 1/week will give you so much more variety! Plus, a lot of them freeze well, so you can keep "emergency" meals in the freezer

                            there is a wealth of food you can eat http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html--- it will take some planning and effort on your part to eat...things don't come out of a sack at the drivethru or from a cardboard box.....it's healthy food. Vary what you eat so you won't feel you have no choices. I rarely eat the same thing during a week because there is so much to choose from.

                            Also, stay off the scale until the end of induction - you will drive yourself nuts with your up a half a pound down 3/4 of a pound changes that take place on a daily basis.

                            You can add desserts back in later -- this is the time you are trying to shake up your system and change your life. If you keep feeding sweets into your system it won't change -- a couple weeks without pie isn't all bad!

                              When does your body change from burning sugar and carbs to burning pure fat?

                              Average: about 3-4 days if you are restricting carbs under 30 grams per day. It works best if you limit carb intake below 20 grams.'

                              My recommendation is to stay awy from artificial sweetners. Drink lots of water. That really helps.

                                Water retention, I keep my sodium low during the weekdays. DO NOT GO ON SALT SUBSTITUES UNLESS YOU ARE SURE 100% THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE KIDNEY PROBLEMS.
