Re: desperate
Welcome to ADBB.
What are your stats? Height, current weight, goal weight.
Could you post one or two menus you had since starting Atkins, including quantities for everything?
What's "swweetex"? You need at least 64 oz of pure water daily, not sweetened stuff (I guess "swweetex" is some artificial sugary stuff).
Are you exercising?
In any case, weight fluctuations are perfectly normal. You can gain 2 lbs today and lose 4 lbs in the next two. If the number on the scale bothers you, weigh only at the end of the first week or at the end of your 14-day Induction. And don't forget to take body measurements too."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: desperate
hi thanks for the reply, but i have put on the 2 lbs that i lost, 7th day in and i have lost nothing, i have now stopped taking sweetener as i think too much of it must stop weightloss, and the mayo which has sugar in it so i have stopped having that as well, so i dont know if now i have to wait a few days before i see any results but i am really getting upset as i am following the rules and seeing no results.

Re: desperate
Wait, wait, wait... You are going by "Dr. Atkins' New Diet Cookbook"? The book dealing specifically with the Atkins Diet is DANDR, not the cookbook. Make yourself a present and buy "Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution", ed. 2002. Follow the rules in DANDR, because those are the ones you need to follow.Originally posted by lucki View Posti weight it out as said in the dr atkins new diet cookbook, 120g of salad and 150g of cooked veg.
The "120 g of salad & 150 g of cooked veg" idea is, I assume, an error done by the British editor, plus it is based on the rules in DANDR 1992. Dr. Atkins measured Induction veggies in DANDR in cups, not grams. For Induction you are supposed to eat 3 cups of vegetables per day --- either 3 cups of salad vegetables or 2 cups of salad veggies and 1 cup of veggies from the "Other Vegetables" list. All vegetables should be measured raw. The lists are part of the acceptable foods list: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html
You can transform between cups and grams using this list: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...p-measure.html
And while you look for the right book, check this thread: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...tion-faqs.html
If you are not doing this already, start tracking your foods in FitDay. Then you can share the link to your FitDay when you want someone to review your menu.

Re: desperate
At the top of the induction page you’ll find a condensed version of the book - http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html
Make a copy of this list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”).
The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

Re: desperate
Dr. Atkins removed aspartame from the 2002 plan because he noticed some dieters were stalled by diet sodas sweetened with aspartame.Originally posted by lucki View Postthanks for that, i have only realised that the cook book is diferent to dandr, i do actually have the copy and have started reading it again. i have not lost any inches. it also says in the cookbook that you can have aspartame artificiual sweetener but i dont think you are allowed. i must say i am very confused why i am not losing weight.
While you are reading the book, can you enter a few days in FitDay and show us your menu that way? From the list you gave me, it's impossible to know what and how much of it you ate every day. So either enter them in FitDay or write it in detail here. By "in detail", I mean something like this:
The foods you listed in your previous post are "legal", but just because they are "legal" it does not mean you will lose weight. You need to eat enough fat, to eat nutritious veggies, to understand which foods might slow down your weight loss, etc. So post one or two menus as in the example above (for all your meals) and then we can take a look at it/them.Lunch
1 medium chicken leg, roasted
1 cup red peppers (measured raw)
2 tomato halves (1 tomato), grilled and topped with 1 tbsp of grated parmesan cheese
By the way, you are measuring all your foods, aren't you? Also meat and oil and spices..."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: desperate
Hang in there. There are things that can be tweaked in your menu and that will hopefully make a difference. Did you take a look at the Induction sticky threads?
On FitDay you can enter all your foods and it will calculate calories, carbs, protein, fat, vitamins & minerals, percentages and all that. This is the link to it: FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal
You need to create an account.
So, I entered your two menus in my FitDay. You don't say how much is "some smoked salmon" or how much cooked salmon you eat or how much oil/butter you use in cooking, so I had to approximate those.
For Day 1, you had 1070 calories, 14 net carbs, 64% fat, 6% carbs, 30% protein and less than 2 cups of veggies (approx. 2/3 cup coming from the "other veggies" list). Your veggie net carbs were around 7 grams.
For Day 2, you have 1119 calories, 21 net carbs, 45% fat, 8% carbs, 47% protein and about 2 cups of veggies (one of which is from the "other veggies" list). Veggie net carbs were 12.7 grams.
Okay. So, the percentages should be approximately 65% fat, 5% carbs, 30% protein. Make sure over half of your net carbs are coming from veggies. Also, you need 3 cups of veggies per day, with at most 1 coming from the "other vegetables" list. All veggies should be measured raw. Plan your menus in FitDay to get the numbers right.
You might want to drop coffee too, unless it's decaf. Some people have trouble losing while drinking regular coffee.
Are you exercising? How old are you? Are you on any medication? Are you taking a multivitamin and did you check with your doctor if you need additional supplements? Were you on any diet right before starting Atkins?"Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."
