  • Hullo! =)

Hi! I've done Atkins and failed it many times, but now that I've lost 30 pounds without actually even doing Atkins, I think I am capable of doing this. I'm at the point where I'm at a standstill and I don't like that feeling. I know with being conscientious about what I eat, I know I will be able to do this. No, I'm not trying to lose weight to look amazing, but that is a definite plus, I'm doing it because I know if I stay at the weight I'm at, I'll be screwed for the rest of my life.

One, I cannot get Diabetes, that is something I have to avoid. There is no way in heck I want to lose the only Kidney I have and sit on a Dialysis machine 3 days a week. *shudder*

Anyway, I'm not happy with myself with how I am, so ya. I am motivated to do this and I want to thank a friend at work for giving me that motivation. I mean, if he can lose so much weight in a year, eating healthy, so can I.

PS- I'm sure a lot of you remember me, ha ha.

    Re: Hullo! =)

    Welcome back to Atkins Bekka.

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and take a multi-vitamin. If you haven't already, read the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR). There is a new challenge starting where we actually READ the book so more of us will understand the plan - it may be something you're interested in. Check the STAC Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet for extra support daily.

Since you've already lost 30 pounds without Atkins now you'll have to switch your eating to hopefully get your weight loss going again.

Eat ONLY the foods on the acceptable food list. If a food isn't on the acceptable food list you shouldn't be eating it until you are on that Rung of the plan.
(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html. You'll find wonderful recipes here: just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with. Vary your meals so you don't get tired of eating the same thing over and over -- we have too many choices for that to happen.

Many of us use www.Fitday.com to track our food so we know what our carb totals are for the day. It's important you know what you are eating and how many carbs you are taking in each day.

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck to you!

Hi Bekka, just curious...how did you lose the weight so far? If you weren't trying to lose, perhaps you should get checked out to make sure there isn't a medical reason. If you were trying to lose, then okay I understand wanting to shake up a standstill. Just know that this isnt a short term fix and if you do decide to go back to higher carb eating later, the pounds seem to pile on faster. This is a life choice. Thats why going up through the OWL rungs is important - so you can do Atkins in a way that will allow you to stick with it later. Welcome back to ADBB.

          Re: Hullo! =)

Well, I tried to get the lap band, but my insurance wouldn't give it to me because my BMI was too low. Which I guess is a good thing. But, I learned a whole lot from that Dietitian class that I took and I started eating way healthier and way less food than I normally ate. And Viola, here I am 30 pounds down already and I'm so happy for that. Hopefully I can keep motivated to do this because I don't want to fail, but I know that its inevitable and I know that this is the rest of my life type of thing. Just sometimes it can be a bit hard. Hopefully not this time around since I know what I'm doing and all.
