  • New-3rd Day on Induction

    Hi, everyone.

I just wanted to get in and introduce myself. I usually lurk on these type of boards, but I really want to get involved here. I have read so much already and gotten some great ideas to hopefully get to a good start.

I am feeling a bit "off" today and I'm assuming that it's due to my cutting down on the carbs. I am pretty foggy, tired, and generally unmotivated to do much today! I am hoping that this will soon wear off. I admit that I love, love, love pasta and potatoes and chips, etc.! However, when I eat those things I feel physically awful. I need to lose about 50 lbs. and I am committed to this way of eating. My husband is doing it with me, so I have some real life support.

I've been trying to figure out how to get my ticker working, but my brain is just not functioning right now. I will work on getting that and my stats up on my profile.

Thanks for reading the rambling and I look forward to getting to know some of you!

Hey there. Day 3 huh, take it one day at a time and keep on trucking! Once you get into "the zone" you won't be missing those foods believe it or not. I have 2 kids and a chubby hubby and I still feed them all those things and bake the brownies and the whoopie pies, don't even lick the spoon! This way of eating is great, takes your appetite down to a cool minimum. Give it a while and you will look back on your post and chuckle. (Glad to hear your husband is going to be with you along the way)

Started this diet on Sun 4/26/09

50 lbs gone on Sun 9/27/09

Well its been over a year now and I am currently on maintenance and still trying to adjust to the "new" ME. No major struggles to report, just livin' day to day.

            Re: New-3rd Day on Induction

Thanks for the responses. I am feeling better right now, but boy this afternoon was a toughie! I spent the afternoon getting induction recipes and ideas from here and Linda's site too. I have my menu planned out for the week. I'm going to make up a couple of quiches for us to eat on for breakfasts and then our lunches will consist of leftovers from dinner the night before. My husband isn't big on salads, so coming up with ideas for him is a bit challenging, but we will do it!

Thanks again for the warm welcome!

                  Hi there!

My name is Andrea and I have just finished Day three of induction. I know what you mean about brain not working! I have felt really tired and not being able to concentrate since I started. It has only been today I have felt nearly normal! Have you felt nauseous at all? I have.

Apart from that, its going well. I have not felt hungry at all.

Let me know how you are getting on.

                  Take care

                    Hi, Andrea.

I am feeling so much better now. This is my 7th day and it's so much easier now. It's really amazing how I am not hungry between meals! Sometimes I think maybe I'm not eating enough, but I eat 3 meals a day with 2-3 cups of the approved vegies and plenty of protein and fat.

I joined the "Read the Book" challenge that starts on the 9th. Hoping it will help to keep me motivated.

I hope you're doing well with the plan.

                      Hi

How are you getting on? Im doing OK.. the nauseous and the tiredness has disappeared but I dont actually think I have lost any weight... I weighed myself a couple of days ago and the scales havent shifted at all!

I put a sample receipe on "review my menu" and it seems I have been going slightly over the 20 carbs.

My downfall is coffee.. or should I say milk in coffee. Rightly or wrongly I have turned to coffee when I gave up smoking three months ago and the times when I would have enjoyed a cigarette, I am enjoying a nice cup of coffee. I have cut out the sugar but I cant drink de-caf and also cannot drink it black.

Since realising I was going over my carbs I decided to cut out the milk and use cream (yuk!) Here in NZ we only have two types of cream - general single cream and a very thick cream with a consistancy of cream cheese or sour cream. So I have been putting that in my coffee.. we will see.

I do love the diet though... definately better than the cabbage soup diet! I was going to do a 4 day detox with my friend where you can apparently lose 18 pounds but I just think that I would really feel deprived.

Anyway enough of me rambling on... looking forward to your reply and hearing how you are getting on.

                      Take care

                      Andrea. x

Did you take body measurements as well?

You can use single cream if you prefer. Even dilute it with some water.

You think? 18 lbs in 4 days, huh? Smart move choosing a healthy, lifelong WoE.

                          Re: New-3rd Day on Induction

                          Hi!
Sorry I've been missing in action!! This weekend was crazy busy. Things are going very well here. I had a really hard Saturday where I almost gave up and just said forget it, but I pushed through and today I am so glad I didn't quit. I feel awesome and I can tell that I've lost some weight. It's very motivating to see the scale drop but even better when you can see it in your face!

I went out to dinner last night with a friend and was a bit nervous, but think I did pretty well. I ordered a salad since I hadn't had my salad veggies yet. I did use their ranch, which probably had some sugar in it, but I said no to the "hot out of the oven" croissant and the honeyed pecans. That was a major victory for me!

Andrea, I hope you're doing well. I totally understand about the coffee addiction-I too love coffee and it's been the one thing I haven't been able to give up. I still have one cup of coffee in the morning and then I switch
to decaf the rest of the day. It took me awhile to get used to this but I
                          think I'm finally there.

                          Have a great day!

                              Jill,

It's going really well! Today is my 14th day, so I'm getting ready to read up on transitioning over to OWL. Don't really understand how it works, but I'm ready to give it a shot. I want to do this the right way and make it a lifestyle change, not just a weightloss that I'll gain back later and become fatter. Been there, done that!

I've lost 7 pounds, which for me is really good. I've always known that my body does better on lower carbs, but my taste has always been for pastas, breads and chips. However, I haven't craved these the past 2 weeks, so I'm pretty happy.

Thanks for the encouragement and checking in on me!
