  • Day one for me

I have decided to give this a go. Have met a friend yesterday who literally "shrunk" in the last few months. So have a lot of research to do! I know the basics, but will miss the fruit. My partner came home with mangoes! But I had smoked trout instead. OK so NO fruit, NO "carb" vegies like spuds, lots of meat, cheese, cream, anything else. CAn someone suggest a FRUIT which is allowed or something that TASTES like fruit. Miss it already (only cause I can't have it). Anyhow I am 130.3 kg right now (my heaviest), lost 30 kg previously with Weightwatchers but need to try something different as this time I need a FAST kickstart to get my will power working again. OK any tips or hints would be great. Will kkep you posted on HOW I GO in the first week. Had 2 lamb chops for brekky, smoked trout for lunch, 2 litres water, thinking about a scotch and soda. Should I?

    Re: Day one for me

No alcohol in Induction. No fruit in Induction. You will get these thing back in their proper time. Your best course of action is to get the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution book and READ IT! What you are doing so far is not Atkins. At the very least go to the Atkins Phases part of these forums and read the permanent posts at the beginning of both the Induction and Extended Induction forums. Atkins is not just about meat and cheese, and it isn't a temporary diet. In fact if you do this without planning to stay a low carber you will more than likely gain all your weight back and more. Do this right and you will be able to make this a lofetime way of eating including fruit and an occasional drink.

      Welcome to the Atkins Board.

Glad you found the board. Jill gave you some wonderful advise, Atkins is not a "diet", it's not a "quick start" it's a way of eating over a lifetime. Once you learn how to eat this way you will wonder why you didn't start long before now. A few tips to help get you started: Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily (nothing added), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin - these are mandatory with Atkins so start now and get off on the right foot.

Make sure you read the book - it will give you the knowledge you need to get to your goal (2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution [DANDR]), eat only the foods on the acceptable food list and eat a variety of foods and vegetables. Good luck to you!
