I am Heather, and I will be beginning induction in the morning (11/16). I have spent the last few weeks reading and preparing, so I am ready to GO now. Back in 2003 I lost 40lbs on Atkins (190 down to 150). My doc made me quit while pregnant. After loosing twins, I went into depression and my weight didn't matter to me anymore. Well, I didn't gain a lot, just about 20lbs before I was pregnant again. That pregnancy went well until our son was stillborn in 2005. Even though I didn't feel "depressed", I still lost all interest in myself and all my focus was on my living children and their lives. I have certainly put myself on a back burner. I had gotten up to 221, but have lost about 6-7 lbs doing weight watchers (has taken 3 months and that is just not fast enough for me).
During this time I have also been diagnosed with MS. The research I have been doing suggests that those who follow a low carb diet often have a reversal of MS symptoms.
So, my reasons for doing Atkins are many, but it all adds up to better health and better looks.
I love meats and eggs, some cheese and veggies. I also have a massive sweet tooth, but I know after a few days that will be GONE. I remember clearly how after about a week into induction the first time, I didn't even want anything. One day I tried a sip of a non-diet drink and gagged from the sweetness. Not sure how I converted back again, but I did.
Anyhow, I am excited to be here and get to know you all.
