  • I am determined!

    Hello all,

    I finally decided to stop making excuses about losing weight and started my diet today, Jan 1st! Well technically yesterday, since it's the 2nd now. Anyway, I have been on Atkins before and lost about 30 pounds or so but didn't do it the right way. I just stayed on the induction and really didn't bother reading the Atkins book and following it. So this time around, I am going to read the book, follow it to the letter and make a lifestyle change rather than just treat it as a quick fix and wind up back where I started. I am rambling now so I will end this. But I will say, I am so happy to have found this forum and look forward to being a part of the community.

      Welcome Lisa.
      Did you get teh book yet? I think you made a very good decision there.
      There is also a STAC (Second Time Around Club) here you can check out.

          I haven't gotten the book yet but I am going to the library today to pick up a copy.

            Welcome back -- you'll have to take a library book back in a couple weeks, but if you buy one you'll have it to refer to over and over (I have read mine about 4 times now and always find something new). The last book I purchased cost under $5.00 including shipping and even though it was listed as "used" the book had never been opened! Check these sites for an inexpensive copy if you can't get one locally:
            www.half.com or www.amazon.com. Make sure you get the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution -- that's the edition we follow here.

            Drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water daily, exercise and take a non-iron vitamin daily. There are so any different forums here there is something for just about everyone. Since you've done Atkins before you may enjoy the STAC (second time around club), they have a daily sign in that people enjoy Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet. Also many people start a journal to keep track of themselves. It’s also a great place to meet new people http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/journal-chats/.

              Thanks Carole for all the suggestions and you are right, it wouldn't make sense to just borrow the book. So I am taking your suggestion and I am going to order it from half.com in a few minutes. The total cost with shipping is going to be around $5 so I am excited about that.

              I am getting in my 64 oz of water and was supposed to start exercising on 1/1 but must admit, I have not. I am going to get off my lazy butt and do some exercise right now, no time like the present, right? Oh and I will definitely make use of the recipe site!
