Hi My name is Meli ~
I have been on Atkins several times. It always works for the first 2 weeks 4-6 lbs a week). After that I stop losing.
I don't have a problem with eating the same thing everyday. I dont have a problem drinking 64oz of water a day.
I know carbs are to be kept at 20 and from what I learned from another site my calories were to low (1000-1200 a day).

It's very difficult for me to lose weight. I really have to work hard. If anyone is in the same situation as me, has some advice please bring it on. I do try to stay on induction for longer then 14 days as I do have about 50 lbs to lose. I enjoy lifting weights but to be honest I can't stand cardio. Below I will post a sample menu of mine so you know what I will be eating.. I haven't started the diet yet. Getting the right carbs, calories and calculating each food is the most difficult for me. I'm 5'1 and weigh 181.

    2 eggs scrambled 1.3 carbs 167 calories
1 tomato raw sliced 0.8 carbs 5 calories
    6 oz ham .43 carbs 292 calories
1 tbsp Olive oil (if used) 0.00 ADD 119 calories

1 Cup cooked Broccoli 7.2 carbs 103 calories
1 oz cream cheese 1.0 carbs 84 calories ( I can take off the cream cheese)
    6 oz Turkey 0.0 carbs 334 calories

5 oz Pork steak 0.0 carbs 352 calories
2 oz sweet onions (raw) 3.8 carbs 18 calories
    5 oz asparagus 3 carbs 44 calories
    1 tbsp garlic 2.53 carbs 42 calories
    1 tbsp butter(if used) 0.00 ADD 102 calories

Total Carbs 20.06 Veggie carbs 14.8
    Total Calories 1440
If Butter and Oil are used total calories 1661

    Welcome back to Atkins, Meli!

Your menu looks good. You're getting your veggies in and that's very good. You just need to be patient and let the diet work for you because it will work but it's not supposed to be a race.

It's normal to lose more weight in the first few weeks then it slows down because your body needs time to adjust to your new eating habits. So stick with it this time and we will be here to help in any way we can.

      Welcome

Make sure you are using fats and oils in your meals -- if you've read the book you'll understand that this is low carb NOT low fat....

If you stop loosing weight on extended induction move on to OWL rung 1 and add 5 additional net carbs (carb minus fiber equals net carbs - thats what you should be counting) of vegetables daily. Atkins is more than just induction - you need to move through the rungs to find the foods you'll be able to eat without any problems and those that trigger and cause trouble.

Eat a variety of foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html. Make sure you eat a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs”. Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything in your home and you won’t be tempted to eat something not allowed. Check Linda's recipe site it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

Exercise, take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily. Start a journal, it's a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself - you'll also meet some great people there! http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/. There’s something for everyone here!

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck to you!

        >>2 eggs scrambled 1.3 carbs>>

1 large egg is .39 net carbs ... better to enter your food into Fitday in the raw state, rather than the cooked.

Did you measure your broccoli before or after it was cooked?

Don't forget to count NET carbs.

          Re: New to this site

I measure the veggies & meats before cooking.. but using fit day I counted the carbs after cooking .
Are you suggesting I go back to fitday and redo carb counting uncooked on everything ?

I also do use EVOO in my scrambled eggs (2 of them) and when I cook my meats (on foreman grill). Total 1 tbsp for both.

            If you want accuracy, yes.

If you don't think that day's entries will matter, then no.

You can always do it accurately in the future.

Don't forget to add the EVOO in your eating.

                  Re: New to this site

Yes, and for some reason that site is so slow. I hope I did it correctly my carbs went up a few (22.54 total 11.2 veggie) but that's not a big deal.

Is garlic considered a veggie carb ? if I calculated correctly (fiber minus carbs = net) 1oz raw garlic is 8.8 carbs. That's where I will take the extra carbs off.

I will use the butter and the EVOO in cooking. I have an 80oz water with me each day. I can drink one of those but I will try for a little more.
I do have the book but it's difficult for me to "get it".

                      Yes.

Are you eating an ounce of raw garlic?

1 clove of garlic is 3 grams by weight (according to the USDA) ... so to have a whole ounce, you would need to be eating about 9 cloves of garlic.

LOL Oh my gosh. No I'm not eating 9 cloves of garlic. It's a large tablespoon. I re-calculated to 3 cloves 2.3 (net) carbs. I was also looking for no nitrate breakfast meats. That's difficult to locate in my area of WA State. Albertsons, Safeway and Top Foods doesn't have it.
