1st week in and i gained a lb.???

  • 1st week in and i gained a lb.???

    i made many mistakes.i ate way to much cheese.i thought it was allright.i also ate fried fish and chops,in vegetable oil.missed the part about heating the oils.still drank my coffee religously[my one true vice left!!!!]i am going to wean off that.bought 4 lb.s of deli meats,which are gone,sooooooo.i officially am starting day one again.p.s. i am also on prozac for many years.that is not an option of stopping right now.i have my lipolysis strips that show trace ketones.i will check again in 2-3 days after hopefully much stricter adherence to the diet.any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!

    What vegetables did you eat?

    How much water did you drink?

    You ate 4 pounds of deli meat in a week?

      Why don't you post a menu so we can see everything that you're eatin. We will be better able to help that way.

        menu is tough to provide.i only ate at lunch and supper.lunch was cheese sticks with a lb. of honey ham and a lb. of roast beef.no carbs listed on the cheese sticks.i wrapped the meat around the cheese sticks.supper i cooked all beef philly steaks with chedder cheese,next night bacon eggs peppers 6 egg omelete,fried chops and fried fish,no carbs.i thought no carbs would help me reach ketosis quicker.tonight i baked 1.5 lbs. red snapper in butter and lemon pepper and salt.

          i have only drank water and coffee.no vegetables.actually only 2.i bought four.and also little cracker barrel sharp cheddar cheese snacks

            Honey ham ... not a good choice. Honey = sugar.

            Don't you think that 2 pounds of mean for lunch is almost gluttony?

            There's more to doing Atkins than that.

            They have more carbs than regular cheddar. Buy regular cheddar.

            Buy vegetables.

            And make sure you're reading the book. It doesn't seem as if you are!

              Sorry, I do not understand what you meant about the vegetable oil---"missed the part about heating the oils" ..What does that mean? What about heating the oils?

                i have read the first 80 pages.tonight,along with the fish i bought pork ribs,steak and cukes romaine lettucehead of cauliflower and broccoli.i also am drinking one advantage shake a night.i thought eating all you wanted was the big atkins advantage?no hunger.proteins and fat.

                  using vegetable oils to fry cook pork chops and fish.thats what i meant by heating the oils

                    Well welcome to start over. Many of us start kind of wrong and have to get to basics.
                    So basics is: Follow the rules. Do not make any "improvements" The diet as written is really good.
                    Do not eat sugar - you ate loads of it.
                    Always read the list of ingredients
                    Cheese is limited
                    Drink lots of clean water.
                    Spread your meals around to avoid gluttony
                    Eat your vegetables.
                    Take your supplement
                    Exercise

                    Eat breakfast - this means fat, protein and veggies (do not overload with dairy)
                    Drink water
                    Eat lunch - not dairy wrapped with sweet processed meats. Real food and vegetables
                    Drink water
                    Eat supper with vegetables

                    And good luck. You can do it.

                      You're supposed to eat until satisfied ... not stuffed.

                      Eating all you want can be overeating ... and can be gorging.

                      You need to read Chapter 11 ... right now.

                              So it looked like you overate somewhat. It is not unusual to eat a bit more in the beginning than you need. But try to plan more frequent meals.
